June 2020
Farewell to Mrs. Ellen Rogers!
Mrs. Rogers has worked in education for 34 years, with 23 years in the Flemington-Raritan School District. She has always been a part of the Autism Team and has taught preschool through fourth grade. She shared that she had the privilege of working with phenomenal students and their parents of whom she has learned something from all of them and hope that in some way, the influence she had on others brings a smile and a fond memory. We wish Mrs. Rogers well in her retirement!
Summer Socialization for Students, Mental Health and Wellness Resources, Summer Solstice Workshop Series
Our students may wish to connect with their peers this summer and therefore, each building's school counselor will make dates/times available for some virtual socializing! Look for dates/times from your school counselor in the coming weeks!
In partnership with High Focus, Flemington-Raritan is offering a series of three workshops this summer! The dates for the Summer Solstice series can be found here! Join us for the July and August workshops, and take some time to review the June 15th parent workshop webinar, available by clicking on the link as well.
Effective Schools Solutions (ESS) has provided a list of upcoming webinars equipped with tools and strategies to support the mental health of students. Click here to register for upcoming webinars (free) and to access archived webinars!
Generated with support from school counselors and district nurses, I encourage our families to review the resources found in this link for emergency crisis contacts for students exhibiting anxiety and/or stress, as well as many community supports for those struggling with every day resources for their families.
Marking Period Grades and IEP Goals and Objectives Progress Reports
IEP Goals and Objectives reporting during the virtual time period will follow the same reporting periods as when report cards are issued. Considering the extended school closure, when educators are reporting on goals and objectives, a comment may be included under the marking code of "SC". For example, the teacher may need to indicate instances where there is insufficient evidence to report on progress toward a specific goal/objective due to extended school closure.
Progress reports should post to the portal this week. If you cannot access your child's progress report, kindly reach out to Danielle Marsh (dmarsh@frsd.k12.nj.us) or Elvira Friscia (efriscia@frsd.k12.nj.us).
Please note that to the greatest extent possible, our educators continually planned, implemented and assessed learning. It has been amazing to watch the evolution of virtual instruction over the past three months! Please communicate with your child's teacher(s), service provider(s) and case manager of any concerns that you may have about your child's educational program. Communication between home and school is very important to us!
Extended School Year (ESY) 2020
If your child has ESY as a component of their IEP, click here to review the parent communication about the program which is scheduled to begin June 29, 2020. ESY teachers will be reaching out to families prior to June 29th!
