VTEC, a partnership between Opportunity Enterprises and Vocational Rehabilitation, is a 12-week certification program. Students can be referred through Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation, and may qualify for complete tuition coverage.
The VTEC program (Vocational Training and Empowerment Center) has three, 12 week, certification programs in the growing fields of: Electronics Recycling and Refurbishment, Light Industrial, and Custodial programs.
Do you know of students that would benefit from these opportunities?
VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND EMPOWERMENT CENTER BELIEVES THAT CUSTOMIZED EDUCATION AND HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE PREPARES EACH GRADUATE FOR A SUCCESSFUL CAREER.
Any student with an IEP or 504 may be eligible for this training opportunity. Please send students down to Ms C-J in her office in Room 109 (with OE permission slip form) for help with these and many other job skills, training, and employment programs!
You can also reach out to kcusterjankowski@duneland.k12.in.us if you have any questions.FAFSA will open in December
Scholarships
- Make your application stand out! Type your information right onto the application. This makes it look more professional than a handwritten application.
- Pay close attention to due dates and where applications are to be turned in or postmarked.
- All scholarship applications that are due to the Counseling Office must be turned in by 3pm on its due date. No late applications will be accepted.
Anxiety
So what can you do if you are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety? There are some things you can do on your own, and sometimes you need help from others.
- Practice relaxation-set aside time during the day where you are away from distractions. Intentionally focus on relaxing your body. You can start with your head and work your way down. Don't worry if you find your thoughts drifting, just bring them back to the present moment and continue on with your relaxation exercises.
- Unplug-Social media and our phones are a great way to connect with others, but we are also seeing an increase in students' anxiety when they are spending too much time on their phones. You can "unplug" in the following ways: Charge your phone away from your bedroom so you aren't tempted to check it into the night hours. Set aside time each day where you take a break from your phone. Turn it off, put it in airplane mode, or put it in another room in the house.
- Talk to an adult-You are not alone, even if your anxiety makes you feel that way. Talk to an adult that you trust about how you are feeling. Sometimes we need help from professionals, and the adults in your life can help you navigate those options.
