Mustang Round Up
February 2024
100th Day of School
Friday is our 100th day of school! We are going to have a little bit of fun and encourage students and staff to dress as if they were 100 years old on Friday.
Kindergarten Registration is Coming in April
If you or a friend have a Kindergartner who will be joining the Morningside Mustangs next year, enrollment for them will look different. All Kindergarten registration will be in person. We will be holding a week in April for Kindergarten registration and screening. We will let you know the exact dates but wanted to give you and anyone you know a heads up on the process this year.
Cell Phones and Watches at School
If a phone is seen out of a students backpack or students are using their watch as a phone, the teacher will take the device and return it to the student at the end of the day.
If the behavior continues, the teacher will turn the device into the office and the parents will have to pick it up.
Thank you for your cooperation
Spring Pictures - February 6
ALICE Drill - February 13
Teachers will talk to students prior to the drill so that students understand this is just a drill, just like we practice fire drills. We wanted parents to know in case you see several police cars. The police officers like to observe these drills and give us feedback.
Please do not plan to drop your child off or pick them up from 9:30-9:45 on this day.
Valentine Parties - February 14
A question that is commonly asked: "Can I send flowers or have things delivered to my child on Valentine's Day." The answer: Yes, you can. However, items will not be picked up by the student until 3:00 because delivering to the classroom causes distractions to the learning environment. Teachers will be teaching academics until the very end of the day when their parties start.
Spell-a-thon Fundraiser
We will be kicking off our Spell-a-thon fundraiser on February 22nd! This fundraiser is to help with the cost of field trips. Our goal is to not ask parents for money for their child to go on a field trip with the exception of the Ski Trip for 5th grade. *Remember, if you want to chaperone or attend a field trip you must fill out the background check at least two weeks in advance.
Here are the field trips we currently are working on.
