MISSION: IGNITING A PASSION FOR LEARNING
Message from the Principal
What a great first month of school! Our year is off to a great start, we are seeing our students accomplish so many great things already from academic to athletic. Our students completed FastBridge testing in mid-September and XELLO lessons are well underway. XELLO is part of our Academic and Career Planning. Ask your child about their XELLO account at school and what they are learning about themselves.

Student Services Updates
September has been a busy month as I begin my new position here at KMS. I’m excited to share with you that each month I will be teaching classroom guidance lessons to all students. This past month was an introduction to myself and the counseling program. We ended with a group activity where students could learn each other's names and something about eachother. I have also been meeting with students individually who have been referred for additional support.
Middle school can be a very difficult transition in a child’s life so I would like to share some helpful tips for success.
#1 - Sleep well. Teens and young adults should be getting 8 to 10 hours per night.
#2 - Eat right. Healthy and balanced meals give your body and mind energy to work well throughout the day.
#3 - Stay organized. A little organization goes a LONG way in middle school. Remember to be looking at your child’s assignment notebook.
#4 - Do your homework. Making it a habit to do your homework each night will help you practice skills and be ready for the quizzes and tests.
#5 - Ask for help. Whether it is academic, social, or emotional help, there are adults at the school ready and willing to help you. Seek out and ask for help when you feel you might need it.
#6 - Set goals. Give yourself something that you want to achieve by the end of the trimester. Then, make a plan and stick with it!
