Stefanie McKoy (University of Arkansas Ph. D. Student, Graduate Assistant Curriculum and Instruction; College of Education and Health Professions) and Krystle Merry (University of Arkansas Ph. D. student, Special Education Curriculum and Instruction; College of Education and Health Professions) will share information regarding the qualities of twice exceptional gifted children. Teachers and caregivers will add resources to their toolbox to assist 2e students to succeed in the classroom and through adolescence.

Fall Family Series Challenge - October/November 2022

OPEN TO GRADES 1-12!

"THE WORLD AROUND US" challenge allows gifted students the opportunity to use their creativity and thinking skills to develop a product of interest. Options include creating a leaf structure, building a device that can do 3 different creative things, or committing to building a culture of kindness with family, friends, and/or teachers! Registration dates are October 1 - 14, 2022, and video submissions are due by November 14, 2022 for upload onto the GT YouTube Channel. GT Parent Advisory Committee (GT PAC) News

There was a total of 64 participants representing various campuses in FBISD at the GT PAC's first meeting of the year! The GT PAC is still looking for representatives for most campuses. If you are interested in representing your child's campus by joining the GT PAC, please take a moment to complete the GT PAC Interest Form. The GT PAC offers an opportunity for parents to serve as liaisons between the GT Department and the campus.

ASE, BBE, CWE, HE, LVE, CVME, PE, SOE, SWE, SCE, QVMS, CHS, DHS have met the maximum number of parent representatives.

TPSP In FBISD (Texas Performance Standards Project) - October Happenings

During the month of October, GT students participating in TPSP should be engaged in conferences to review completed research plans/proposals. Students and teachers will also collaborate and complete the Project Due Dates form and discuss the assessment rubrics.

GT Learning Plan - October

Students and teachers have been working on crafting both academic and affective goals for the 2022-23 school year, inviting parent input, and finalizing those goals. Once goals are complete, they will be uploaded to Skyward Family Access for parent signature. October 6 is the official GTLP signing day!

The GT Learning Plan is in place for all elementary students, 6th graders, and 9th graders for the 2022-2023 school year. CMS, FSMS, and SMS will also include 7th graders, and AHS, BHS, and THS will also include 10th graders.

The GT PAC Parent Symposium is coming soon! This annual online event is scheduled to take place in November. This is an event hosted by GT parents for GT parents. We would love for you to join us this year! More details will be shared soon.

What do GT Teachers Know about GT students?

All core teachers working with GT students must complete a minimum of thirty (30) hours of foundation training. That 30 hours consists of six (6) hours EACH of five (5) core knowledge areas:


  • The Nature and Needs of Gifted Learners
  • The Social and Emotional Needs of Gifted Learners
  • Differentiated Instruction for Gifted Learners
  • Creativity and Instructional Strategies for Gifted Learners
  • Identification and Assessment of Gifted Learners


Upon completion of foundation training, GT teachers must complete six (6) hours of update training in at least one of the core knowledge areas each year.

GT Mentorship Program

The GT Mentorship Program in FBISD serves a cohort of 25 seniors across the District's high schools. Students participate in a fall seminar to hone professional etiquette and original research skills, as well as prepare for a professional mentorship in the spring. Our professional mentors are the cornerstone of this program, so we would like to honor a few of them each month as a small token of our thanks.

Audio Realm Recording Studio

Audio Realm is a premier recording studio right here in Fort Bend (Richmond). Its audio engineers have expansive knowledge and experience with all types of recording situations, including recording bands/solo projects for demos and albums, as well as providing advertising consulting to many local businesses and corporations. There isn't one definite way to record audio - it's more of a science. Let's create together.

With over 27 years of Investment Banking experience, Scott has successfully closed over 130 transactions with an aggregate value in excess of $25 billion across a broad range of mergers and acquisitions and public/private market equity and debt financings. Prior to joining GulfStar in 2010, Scott held Senior Banker roles at JPMorgan in San Francisco and BMO Capital Markets in Chicago.
