Running Club Announcment
What a great first couple of weeks for Running Club! We’ve gotten rained out a couple times, had some extreme heat and humidity and one day we had our jackets on, crazy weather to start the year for sure. Mrs. Springer’s class received the first Traveling Shoe for the most participants for week one, we’ll see who gets it for this week! Several students have also achieved their 5 mile mark, and some looking to get to 10 miles very soon! Remind your kids that they get toe tags for 5 miles, 10 miles, 13.1 miles and up, not to mention we’ll have an extra prize for those that achieve the half-marathon by the end of the Fall session and an even better prize at the end of the year if they get Marathon status at 26.2 miles! But just as exciting are those students have just begun running and are getting to their first or second mile ever.
Volunteers are still needed, especially for Thursdays and Fridays. If you can please take a moment to view the openings on the calendar at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZQJhGxVTsgUPv5Zrbt-rPPgE-DgcC80hKVzK6BXGAhY/edit?usp=sharing and see if one or two shifts might work for you that would be very helpful!
Finally, mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 2nd for Run With a Loved One day! Everyone is invited to run some laps during Running Club recess and see what Wacky Wednesday is all about.
VALERIUS- WHERE KINDNESS IS CONTAGIOUS!
This last week our students focused on using their manners in the lunchroom, in the classroom, and hopefully at home.
On Friday, our Kindness crew will be leading our first SOAR assembly. Students are receiving SOAR awards on late start days in the classroom this year. All students who receive a SOAR award during the month will be recognized by our Kindness Crew at the September assembly. The crew will do a skit on compliments, and then we will celebrate our focus on compliments in the month of September by pieing Mrs. Cole in the face.
Following the SOAR assembly will be the PTO's Fall Fundraiser announcement and assembly.
