NOVEMBER 2023
Hello Wabash Community!
It is hard to believe that our 1st quarter is already complete. Our faculty, staff, and students continue to focus on growth, grit, and kindness! With the coming of the 2nd quarter and the month of November, my mind and heart always starts to focus on gratitude. Gratitude fits nicely during this time of the year as we approach Thanksgiving. Please take time at home to discuss the meaning of gratitude and how we can all share our gratitude with each other.
For me, I am grateful for my family, friends, the Wabash Community, and all the beautiful sights and sounds of fall. With fall and the coming winter, I always find joy and happiness in the changes all around us. The colder weather leads us to jean and jacket weather, hot chocolate, and warm fires. I hope that you too can find joy and gratitude all around you.
Now that the weather is getting colder, please make sure your students bring their coats, hats and gloves every day, because we do still go outside for recess.
Please remember there is no school for students November 22, 23 and 24.
Every Student Matters, Every Moment Counts!
Mr. Schulte
Thank you for being such great Wabash library patrons!
A few reminders:
- Please help your child be responsible and return their library books on their scheduled library day (every 5th day of school). We want students to get new library books as often as possible.
- If your child's library book accidentally gets damaged or lost, please DO NOT BUY A REPLACEMENT BOOK. Please let Mrs. Collins know if a book is damaged and we will assess the damage and let you know if we need money to replace the book. We buy our books with special library bindings and books that come with our library labels. Thank you!

November is already upon us, a time we often think of Thanksgiving. Through all of the holiday cheer we don’t want to forget the importance of teaching our children the opportunities gained from friendship and generosity. If your family gathers through Zoom this year or travels across our great country, either way you can renew old friendships, build new friendships, or share time with those you love. No family is perfect and sometimes things can get a little stressful when everyone comes together. Here are some fun ways to add some laughter or help pass the travel time.

24 Hour Rule
Parents, please remember that if your child is vomiting, they must remain home for 24 hrs after the last time they vomit.
If your child has a fever, they must remain home for 24 hrs fever free without the use of medications.
Head Lice
It is good practice to check your child’s head once a week while in school. If you find lice, please contact your school nurse and treat your child. Your child is allowed to return to school once they have been treated and no longer have live lice.
Fall breaks and holidays are fun for visiting the pumpkin patch and other family-oriented activities since the hustle and bustle of school is underway. It is easy to get out of the reading routine with a busy schedule. While reading may seem like a chore to keep up during these busy times, if we reframe how we look at reading it may make the idea more appealing. Here are a couple of benefits of keeping up a reading routine.
1. It can relieve stress and help your child unwind after a long day of activities and family time.
2. Helps them sleep better - (only if it's a good old fashioned paperback) it's especially important if this is already a part of their night routine.
3. It can help your child increase empathy for others by understanding a character's emotions and
4. Strengthen your child's brain. No matter how different your routines may look during the next several weeks, it's incredibly important to carve out a little time each day (EVEN 20 minutes!!) to read.
In order to stay safe and participate in all PE activities, please remember that students must wear tennis shoes on PE days. Crocs, sandals, boots, flip flops, etc. are not safe to wear for our lessons.
Thank you - the Wabash PE Team
