K is for...Kindness
Kindness is a character trait that is modeled and talked about often in all of our Pre-K classrooms. It may not be as understood in our little ones as it is by adults as our students often measure kindness in terms of consequences instead of the intention. For example, if I give you a toy you smile. Still, it is such an important trait for our students to be immersed in daily. In Mrs. L's classroom at Genet the students were busy lighting up the board with kindness. By the end of the month, the entire board was lit. Good work kids!
"Is it Hanukkah Yet"
Teaching Assistant Mrs. Bonacquisti reads, "Is it Hanukkah Yet," to students at Red Mill while sharing fun information about the holiday.
"The Snowy Day"
One of my absolute favorite children books was on full display in Mrs. Stauder's classroom at Green Meadow. Students re-created a snowy day scene from the story. No snow this winter...no problem!
Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Classes are not in session on January, 15th for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. While pre-schoolers aren't necessarily ready for civil rights, we still can talk to them about a core message, which is that every person should be treated fairly and with kindness.
