Dear Art Rutkin Elementary Families,


This has been a great first week of school with our 1st-5th graders. We are so happy to have our kindergarteners start on Monday, Sept. 11th. This newsletter has some important reminders as we get ready for all grades to be on campus each day starting Monday. We will continue to have signs and safety cones in the parking lot areas to help everyone get used to how arrival and dismissal will work. We ask that everyone be patient, and take extra care when looking out for students and adults in the parking lots. Help us keep everyone safe and follow these arrival - dismissal directions.


Parent drop-off and Pick up Reminders:

  • Stay in your vehicle, or use designated parking spots.

  • Use visor signs to show who you are picking up at the end of the day

  • Stay by the curb while dropping off and picking up students

  • Student drop-off and pick up is in the lower parking lot only

  • Please drop students off on the curb side from your vehicles only

  • Buses only in the upper parking lot during arrival and dismissal

  • Drive slowly on campus at all times

  • Kindergarten parents and guardians only may walk their child to class on Sept. 11th

    • 8:00 AM - Sept. 11 enjoy coffee with the principal in the library (all parents are welcome)

  • Kindergarten will start regular routines on their 2nd day of school

    • Sept. 12th - Kindergarten parents say good-byes to students outside


Please join us for our first PSO meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 12th at 6:00 PM. This will be a great opportunity for hearing important news about school and upcoming fall events. We are looking forward to starting week two on Monday. Thank you to everyone for a great first week of school. The Rams are rolling along!

You can find all the details regarding district transportation on the transportation web page. Generally, elementary students who live more than one mile from school are not eligible for transportation services.


However, when the walking route is deemed unsafe, transportation will be provided or temporarily provided. In our case, the construction of surrounding homes makes our walking zone a temporary bus zone.

Our first Fun Run πŸ‘ŸπŸ‘Ÿ

September 29th

Save the Date, our first Fun Run will be on September 29th. You will get more information next week with details on run times, volunteering day of and collecting pledges.


If you want to get an early start collecting your pledges, you can go online and register.



  1. Register for the fundraiser or login to your parent dashboard here at getmovinfundhub.com.

  2. School Identifier: 64f338cfc5d68

  3. On the parent dashboard, make sure your child has been successfully added to our fundraising event

  4. Complete the student page - You have complete control for what student information is or is not visible on the page.

  5. Even if you don’t want to share the easy to donate online page, please still register so we can add in your cash/check pledges from paper pledge forms. This allows you to see that your cash/check donations were accounted for.

  6. Make an online donation using the red Donate button right away

  7. Easily share the student page with friends and family all over the country with text messages and/or E-mails

  8. Student pages cannot be searched/found online. The only way to access them is by using the unique page link. Only you can share/not share the link at your discretion.

  9. Every student that is registered online will be entered into a weekly drawing for fun prizes.

Health Room Clothing Needed

Did you sort through clothes over Summer Break? Do you have gently-used clothing that you are planning to donate? Please keep the health room in mind. We are looking for boys and girls clothing, especially small (sizes 5-8) elastic-waist pants and underwear, although we are happy to accept all sizes!

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

Arrival Time

  • Please have students arrive between 7:45 - 8:00 AM

  • School starts at 8:00 AM

  • The main entry doors will open at 7:45 AM

  • Students will wait out front until the doors open

  • Please help us remind students to wait patiently and to not enter the landscaping or climb on rocks

  • Students will go directly to their classroom or to the cafeteria for breakfast

  • Students who arrive after 8:00 AM will check in at the office before going to class


Dismissal Time

  • Dismissal time is at 2:20 PM

  • Teachers will drop-off bus riders first and then walk students into the cafeteria to be called for parent pick up

  • Parents may wait by the Art Rutkin oak tree (labeled on the map)

  • Parent pick up by car will happen in our lower parking lot - follow parking lot signs and arrows

  • Pick up area will be in front of the lower parking lot steps

  • Stay in the car line while moving through the parking lot, do not pull out to pass cars

  • Always drive 10 mph or less in our parking lots

  • Park in a designated parking space if you need to leave your car

  • Do not park and leave your car in the fire lanes or by the curb

School Bell Schedule & Attendance Line

School hours for students:

8:00am - 2:20pm

Doors open at 7:45am


Attendance Line: 503-431-3505 Please call the attendance line before 8:30 am if your child will be absent or late to school. At any time during the message, you can press # to directly leave your message. An automated system will call you if the absence/tardy has not been reported.
