Please join the staff and students of St. Peter School in wishing our dear, sweet Mrs. Mongeon a very happy retirement!

Mrs. Mongeon has been the rock of our school community, watching over and guiding our students along their educational journey! She has celebrated many milestone, bandaged many knees, and hugged away many worries, always with a gentle smile and words of encouragement. Ms. Mongeon will be missed beyond words!

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Ms. Di Roma and Ms. Lamoureaux who will be joining our St. Peter staff. Ms. Di Roma will join us on Tuesday, October 4 and will be with us every Tuesday as a planning time teacher. Ms. Lamoureaux will join us as Head Secretary on November 1.

On Friday, September 23rd, 2022, St. Peter students and staff celebrated the accomplishments of our Canadian hero Terry Fox. The dedication and determination that Terry Fox demonstrated in an effort to make this world a better place, is a wonderful lesson for all of us. We accepted donations for Terry to support this cause. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all who were able to donate! Because of your generosity and kindness, we were able to raise approximately $400! Thank you for helping us make a difference!

Thank you to our amazing Terry Fox Committee, Ms. Alessandrini and her students for leading our school in honour our Canadian hero and reminding us all of the importance of never giving up!

A very special thank you to all who were able to join us for our St. Peter School Open House and BBQ! The rain certainly did not dampen our school spirit! It was wonderful to see so many families in our building, enjoying the opportunity to connect with staff and other community members!

In the interest of your child's safety, it is very important to inform us if your child will be late or absent from school. To record your child's absence, please follow the steps below.

If the absence is going to be for more than 5 days, you will need to contact the school to report.

If your child has a medical condition, please ensure that the school is aware of it by submitting the proper forms and medication as soon as possible. A Plan of Care will be created for your child. This Plan will be shared with teachers and staff members that interact with your child on a regular bases.

Parents are responsible for ensuring that all medications and forms are updated for any student who requires medication to be administered at school. If your child requires medication, please have the necessary forms completed and return them, along with any medication, to the office as soon as possible. Please call the school for the proper forms to be sent. Please remember to check the expiry dates of all medication before bringing them to school.

As part of our ongoing efforts to provide a safe and healthy environment for all of our students, parents are reminded to please not bring or send any food items to school with your children for distribution to other students. The most common examples of this situation are students bringing food for class events or parties or for birthday events. Please keep these activities for “at home” occasions.

Student safety is of the utmost importance here at St. Peter School. We would like to take this opportunity to review our Kiss and Ride safety protocols with all families.

We encourage all parents to use the bus transportation in place for your children. However, if your child does not qualify for a bus or if you choose to drive your children to school, or pick them up at the end of the school day, you are reminded to follow the Kiss and Ride safety procedures:

1. Children remain in the car until the car reaches the end of the Kiss and Ride lane where a staff member is. * Please note, parents should not be exiting the vehicle and leaving it unattended at any time.

2. Staff on duty will signal to the student(s) when it is safe to exit the vehicle and walk safely to the sidewalk. At no time should students exit a vehicle and cross between buses.

3. Children should only be dropped off in the Kiss and Ride lane for their safety.

Wednesday, October 5th, 2022 is United Nations World Teachers’ Day and we would like to take the opportunity to recognize and celebrate our teachers for their commitment and dedication to Catholic Education here at St. Peter's.

Teachers have a great influence on us. They help prepare us for life. They teach us skills we need to participate and compete. They help us identify our strengths and weaknesses. They work to make us stronger students and hopefully, better people.

We thank our wonderful staff for the work they do on a daily basis. They are the reason we have such an exciting, vibrant school and the dedication and effort they put forth to help our students to excel.

Students are encouraged to wear black and orange or their Halloween costumes on Monday, October 31. As part of our continued efforts to create a safe, caring and inclusive environment within our school we encourage you to facilitate meaningful conversations with your children regarding their Halloween costume choices. It is our hope that, through these conversations, all members of our Catholic community will carefully consider their costume choice and the message that their costume may represent in today’s climate. Please note that students must not bring replica weapons to school (e.g. replica knives, guns, swords, etc.). Any capes worn must not touch the floor as it can be a trip hazard..
