PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE
Dear Eagle Crest Families,
I hope this email finds you well and ready for an exciting weekend ahead! I'm happy to announce that Eagle Crest will be hosting a VEX Robotics Tournament this Saturday, 9am-3pm in the gym and we cordially invite all of our families to join us for this thrilling event.
Our competitive robotics team has been hard at work, and I am proud to share that they have recently brought home not one, but two awards for their outstanding performance at their last tournament. Their success is a testament to their dedication, effective robotics designs, and incredible teamwork.
But our commitment to robotics education extends far beyond the competitive arena. At Eagle Crest, we believe in introducing the fundamentals of robotics from an early age. Starting from Kindergarten and continuing throughout all grade levels, we integrate robotics into our curriculum through our STEM Garage and our Late Start Wednesday Day of Coding. Additionally, we provide hands-on experience for all 3rd and 5th grade students, allowing them to build actual robots using the same tools and materials as our competitive teams in our specialized robotics lab.
This initiative aims to extend opportunities to all students, regardless of their involvement in our competitive team, and to foster innovative thinking and strategic problem-solving skills with an engineer's mindset. It's just one of the many ways that Eagle Crest sets itself apart in preparing students for future success.
So mark your calendars and join us this weekend for an unforgettable experience at the VEX Robotics Tournament. Let's come together as a community to celebrate our students' achievements and support their passion for robotics!
Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend ahead!
Warmly,
Amanda

MWEBAZA UPDATE
Hello Friends!
The Mwebaza Club is excited to sponsor our next SPIRIT DAY! The club members have chosen the theme "Anything but a Backpack" Day. Since this is a first for Eagle Crest, let us explain. On February 9, just for fun, students have the opportunity to bring their materials to school in a different container than their backpack. It is a funny way to show school spirit. We are raising funds to build the bookshelves and purchase supplies in Uganda to organize a library checkout system for the grant we received from the African Library Project. Mwebaza Annex and St. Paul schools in Uganda will each be receiving about 600 books and training on how to use a library with students, teachers and community members.. Students are welcome to bring donations, but not required.
Teachers, throughout the coming days, we will provide ideas for students as to what are good ideas for bringing their things to school and what might not be so smart to bring their things in. Stay tuned for an announcement at the staff meeting, at the upcoming assembly, newsletters that will go out to parents, and ideas on the morning announcements the days before our big day on Feb. 9. Most importantly, we hope everyone has fun and gets a few giggles out of this silly day.
