Principal's Message
Thank you to all the families and students who attended conferences the week of Thanksgiving! As we embark on these final 5 weeks of the semester, it is critical for students to work closely with their teachers to get caught up on assignments and get additional support if they are struggling with their classes. November flew by and December will too: we have less than 2 weeks until winter break!
As a reminder, we have academic support Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 2:30pm - 3:30pm. Students can sign up for a bus ride home after the academic support on Mondays and Wednesdays. On Tuesdays, students must organize their own way home. In addition to academic support, there are also a variety of clubs that meet after school. Some clubs also meet during lunch. See the list of clubs, and when they meet, in this issue of Titan Times.
This time of year, with the short days, can take a toll on student attendance. Please remember: we expect students to be at school every day. Of course, if students are sick they should stay home and get better. There have been numerous studies over the years demonstrating the critical link between school attendance, graduation, and student success after high school (whether it be holding down a job or completing college). We are here to support our students and families. We will continue to problem-solve with students and families if attendance drops below 90%.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your student’s teachers, the main office, or me by phone or email if you have questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Ryan Blaszak

Springwater Attendance
If your son/daughter is going to be out for the day please call the office (503-261-4600) and let us know the reason why. Whenever the office is not notified of an absence, a call is made home via the automated calling system. If the student is going to be out more than three days, you can call the office or email your student's teachers with a request for homework. If your student is going to be out of school for extended period of time due to a vacation or some other event, please have him/her complete a Pre-arranged Absence Form. If your student needs to leave school early or arrive late due to appointments, please call the office or send a note to excuse their absence.

Checking In With Our Graduates

What are your plans for this year: My plan is to keep my grades up in college at WOU, and do the very best I can. I'm also looking to possibly go to the Independence Police Station and doing their cadet program to get as much hands on experience as possible and also returning back to Miller Timber Services as a wildland firefighter this coming summer since I didn't get dispatched.
What do you miss about STHS: Honestly I miss the teachers. They took a lot of time out of their day to help you through problems so you would get it right. While people do care at WOU it's not as simple as going up to the professor and asking for help during class or after class.
Advice you would give current STHS students: Keep listening and taking your teachers advice seriously. Having been to STHS and Barlow I can tell you that the teachers at Springwater are preparing you for college unlike anything I have seen. So far my experience at WOU has been flawless because I took their criticisms and built on it. Keep working and listening to your teachers because they are doing more than teaching you a lesson, they are preparing you for what the future has to offer.

What are your plans for this year: Going to College at Klamath Falls Community College.
What do you miss about STHS: The staff. Everyone had a way of teaching while being compassionate at the same time.
Advice you would give current STHS students: Be on top of things like FAFSA, SAT, etc. Graduation and College come up really fast and there is no one to help you with these things once you are at college.
Sadee McLendon
What are your plans for this year: Going to Western Oregon University .
What do you miss about STHS: My friends, I dont get to see them as often now.
Advice you would give current STHS students: Don't procrastinate. Assignments in High School are a lot easier then in College.
