Happy November!


Now that the days are getting shorter and the weather is turning colder, we're all probably spending a little more time indoors. This can make finding ways to engage your Young Scholar's curiosity, and keep them busy, a bit more of a challenge - especially if you're not looking to spend a lot or travel too far.


Hopefully this month's newsletter can help! We'll be focusing on increasing access this month by taking a look at several free or low-cost opportunities for your Young Scholar to get out of the house, get curious, and have fun!

MELSA SmARTpass

Another great way to take advantage of your local library is through the MELSA smARTpass program.

Minnesota Children's Museum

Minnesota Children's Museum All Play tickets are available for only $3.00/per visitor for income-qualified families. With an All Play membership, qualified families can enjoy a whole year's worth of unlimited play at the Children's Museum for a greatly discounted rate. Click HERE to learn more.

Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is a great way to get outside while exploring cool art at the same time. The Sculpture Garden is always free and open year-round. Try out some of these fun activities on the Interactive Self-Guided Tour Experience.

The Bell Museum

The Bell Museum, a natural history museum and planetarium in St. Paul, offers free or reduced price tickets to qualifying families including free admission for Indigenous peoples as well as active duty military personnel and their families. About Me

Hello!


My name is Colleen Redmond, and I am honored to work as Coordinator for SoWashCo Young Scholars.

I'm a mom, a wife, small business owner, avid biker (the pedal kind), book enthusiast, and beekeeper.

I've been lucky enough to teach in South Washington County Schools for over twenty-five years and have had the incredible opportunity to be a part of the lives of so many students and families over the years.

Now, as part of Young Scholars, I have the honor of working with the amazing staff, students, and families throughout SoWashCo to implement and grow the Young Scholars program.

I am so very excited to work with and support you and your Young Scholar. I can't wait to see where the journey takes us!
