Breakfast and School Arrival Time
Attendance Matters!
Showing up to school greatly impacts a student's academic success. Families play a crucial role in ensuring that a student gets to school safely and on time daily. We understand that absences are unavoidable, such as illness or medical appointments. Please call in advance if your child will not be in school.

Counselor Corner
Hi Little Eagles!
As adults we all get burnt out sometimes, and it can be the same way for kids. Although they don't know what these strange feelings mean and how to calm the big feelings. Here are a few tips to help students as they are feeling overwhelmed or just full of worries this time of year.
- Have a set bedtime to be sure they are getting the right amount of sleep.
- Have a morning routine - arriving on time and being prepared for the day.
- Practice self-care with your student. For a child this may also look like painting, a dance party or a nice walk to take a minute and help them unwind.
- Remind them to breathe, routinely practice how to take big breaths when things feel overwhelming.
- Read a story to help them normalize their feeling such as "Ruby Find a Worry", "The Very Hungry Worry Monster" or "A Little Calm Spot".
- Encourage them to ask for help when they do not know how to calm their worries.
*We are quickly approaching the end of the year. Please let me know if you need support for your student as we near the transition to summer.
May 25th is the healthy snack after school class for those who are signed up.
This month our Character Trait focus is: Responsibility
Please feel free to reach out if you are in need of resources or if there is a way I can support your student or family this year. ashley.phelps@myeagles.org or 517-769-8557.

Nurse's Corner
It's time to think about getting outdoors and enjoying the warm sunshine. Continue to read below for information to help protect you and your family.
TICKS: PREVENT - CHECK - REMOVE
The best way to protect yourself and your family from ticks is to PREVENT them from being on your body by:
- Wearing tick repellent clothing and shoes
- Tucking long pants into socks
- Having long sleeves
- Using insect repellent
- Staying to the center of paths when walking or hiking
https://tickfreenh.org/prevent/
After you come indoors CHECK your body, your child, your pets, and clothing for ticks. https://tickfreenh.org/check/
REMOVE any tick you find. If you find a tick on your body, your children, or your pets it is important to remove it immediately. For information on how to safely remove a tick, click here: https://tickfreenh.org/remove/
For more information on tick safety, visit https://tickfreenh.org/ and https://web.uri.edu/tickencounter/
SUNBURN AND BUG BITES
- Parents are reminded to apply sunscreen and/or bug spray at home before arriving to school as our students are able to spend more time outside.
- Hats and sunglasses are also encouraged as we enjoy more hours of sunshine!
Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns at paige.schlegel@myeagles.org
