THE TIGER STRIPES
10.30.23
Autumn Greetings
Dear Families and Community,
Big thanks to our amazing PTC for putting on such a fun and festive Boogie Woogie Night! The gym was completely transformed, and there were so many incredible costumes. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event so full of entertainment and merry making. The Book Fair was also a rousing success. We saw so many volunteers coming in and out all week long!
We really appreciate all of you who helped support this effort, and we look forward to spending our Scholastic dollars to continue to modernize our library and get books into the hands of kids!
We had a very silly and fun assembly celebrating the culmination of the Tiger Trot. There was spaghetti flinging, and I was turned into an ice cream sundae by students because we surpassed our fundraising goal by $5000. It was sticky...but definitely worth it to see the kids so excited.
Conferences are coming next week - Tuesday, November 7th and Wednesday, November 8th. Because of the Veterans Day holiday, there will only be two days of school next week (Monday and Tuesday). Tuesday there is school all day, and conferences are from 4:00-8:00pm. On Wednesday, school will be closed, and conferences will take place from 8:00am to 8:00pm. Thursday there is no school; it is what we call a 'comp day' for teachers to make up for the two evenings they work. Friday is Veterans Day observed, so all schools district-wide are closed. Below, you will find a section of the newsletter specifically related to conferences.
It is a busy time indeed! We hope you are enjoying the crisp fall days and hearing happy news from school.
Warmly,
Wendy

ODE School and District Profiles and Accountability Details
Each year, the Oregon Department of Education publishes profiles of each district and school based on publicly provided data. The At-A-Glance School and District Profiles, also known as report cards, are now published. The school report card data is the result of the OSAS (Oregon Statewide Assessment System) administered in grades 3-5 for Terra Linda students. The report cards will be on our Terra Linda school website soon, but in the meantime, our report card is available directly from the Oregon Department of Education. You can access Terra Linda's data, as well as information from all schools and districts across the state, here on the ODE website.
Our staff has engaged at length with the data in order to examine our areas of strength, as well as opportunities for growth. We worked collaboratively to build a robust school improvement plan with a focus on two main areas, ACADEMIC GROWTH and SAFE AND THRIVING. Our academic growth goal is in literacy, and our safe and thriving goal is related to kids feeling safe, welcome and accepted at school. I will be using The Tiger Stripes to communicate with you throughout the year about actions we are taking to execute our goals and ways we hope to partner with you during this process.
Option Schools Applications
Applications now open for 2024-2025 Option Schools. Applications for the 2024-2025 school year are now available online. Students must reside within the Beaverton School District boundary or currently attend a Beaverton School on an approved Inter-District Transfer in order to apply to an Option school.
Students may only select one Option school on their application. They should give careful consideration to their choice of school. Once an application has been submitted, no changes will be allowed. We strongly encourage online applications.
Applications must be received online or in the Learning Options office no later than Friday, December 8 at 3:00 p.m. PST.
Current 5th-7th grade students and families who are unfamiliar with the Options Application process are invited to attend an Option Fair. The Option Fair will include a presentation on the application process and the opportunity to visit tables hosted by each Option School.
Current 5th-11th grade students and families who are interested in specific Option Schools are encouraged to attend one or more Open Houses hosted at each Option School. Visit the Learning Options webpage for more information and applications, as well as a complete list of Option Fairs and Open Houses.
