We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Father Doyle Families,
Wishing you all a very restful and enjoyable February break! It goes without saying that this school year has been filled with its share of challenges, difficulties, and stress. Thus, as we enter this time of rest, let us embrace the opportunity for good and honest leisure, remembering that we are not made for work alone, but for God. As St. Augustine remarks, "our hearts are restless, until they rest in Him." I pray that you find peace, relaxation, and rejuvenation this break.
In regards to break, please note our updated travel policies shared this morning via email:
Travel Policies - February Break
Based on new information provided by the Rhode Island Department of Health earlier this week, Father Doyle School has updated its travel policy for students and families traveling to states with a positivity rate higher than 5%. Please see the new policy outlined below:
If your child has traveled to a state with a high community spread rate according to the list maintained by RIDOH, they must complete one of the following two options in order to return to school:
- A 10-day quarantine with a negative PCR test result that was obtained no earlier than five days after returning to Rhode Island. Please note, even with a negative test result, the quarantine length is 10 days.
- A 14-day quarantine with no negative test required. Testing is still encouraged to safely return to school; however, it is not required if quarantining for the full 14 days.
The list of states maintained by RIDOH changes regularly, so please check frequently if you are planning to travel.
Please note that this does not apply to travel outside the 50 states for which a full 14 day quarantine is still required, regardless of test results.
Optional Testing Event - Sunday, February 21st
In an effort to continue to protect our school community, we will be running an optional testing event on Sunday, February 21st from 9am to 1pm. For more information about the event, including details on how the event will run, please review the testing event flyer here. All students are encouraged to attend! You can find the testing consent for here. You only need to complete one testing consent form for the year. So if you have already completed a form, no need to turn in another on Sunday the 21st.
Lenten Food Drive
We will once again be holding our Lenten Food Drive beginning upon our return from February break. You can find more details about our annual Lenten Drive in the flyer here. It is also attached below. Classes will compete to bring in specific items each week, with the grand prize winner announced at the conclusion of the Lenten season. The first week (Feb. 22-26) is peanut butter and jelly week!
Community Events
Please take a look below under Important Documents below for community information including Coventry Town Little League and Lacrosse. Thank you for supporting our local community sports!
Taking Care of - Small - Business
Thank you to all of those families who have already donated gift cards for our annual school Auction! For years, local businesses in our area have generously supported the school by donating items for our auction. This year, many local businesses are facing difficulties, and we would like to help them out while supporting the school at the same time.
For more information on our Taking Care of Small Business initiative see the flyer here and the letter from Father Woolley here.
Wishing you all a blessed and enjoyable break!
God bless and Go Saints!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin

Current RIDOH Quarantine Guidance (Non-Travel)
On December 10, 2020, the Rhode Island Department of Health released new Quarantine Guidance for confirmed close contacts of a positive case. A detailed summary of this guidance can be found here.
Generally, the guidance allows for:
- 14 Day Quarantine for Immunocompromised and/or Long-Term Care Staff
- 10 Day Quarantine for General Public (while continuing to monitor for symptoms)
- 7 Day Quarantine with Negative Test at least 5 Days After Last Exposure
A reminder that the Department of Health is the only organization that can mandate a person quarantine. The school will continue to address necessary hybrid learning scenarios on a case by case basis in consultation with the Department of Health.
Hybrid Learning & Distance Learning Policies
As shared with families via email we have updated our Hybrid Learning and Distance Learning Policies and Procedures. You can find those changes outlined in the documents attached below, as well as linked here:
Hybrid Learning Letter to Families
Distance Learning Opt-In Dates
In addition, you can view a brief video summary of the updates here. We hope these changes will help make hybrid and distance learning increasingly manageable and effective for staff, students, and families alike!
Probable Cases & Testing Procedures
The Department of Health has released additional resources for families regarding how to proceed if your child has symptoms at home or becomes ill at school. You can find the RIDOH Resources for Families here. Please note, if your child is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 that indicate a probable case, please call 844-857-1814 from 7:30am-9:30pm seven days a week to schedule a test through the K-12 Testing Network. You should also notify the school as soon as possible.
If your child is experiencing symptoms and is being tested, two tests will be conducted at the K-12 testing site - a rapid test with results within 24 hours, and a PCR test with results within 48 hours. Please note, students are not permitted to return to school until both tests are negative and symptoms have resolved. In addition, families must complete the After Illness Return Attestation Form which can also be found on the homepage of our school website under "Important Links."
A reminder that our hybrid learning policies for students absent due to illness or quarantine can be found in our Hybrid Learning Guide for Students and Families as well as in a quick reference guide here.

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
