Why did you become a teacher or why did you want to work in a school?
I am extremely passionate about Dual language as I was never fortunate enough to be in a program like this growing up. I am a first generation immigrant from Mexico and Spanish is my first language. I want my students to know how fortunate and amazing it is to be able to learn and speak in multiple languages because I never understood what my teacher was saying in class because of these I always strive to make the best memories for my students every year.
What inspires you?
My family and especially my students to be the best teacher and person I can be.
What is your favorite quote?

Why did you become a teacher or why did you want to work in a school? My 4th grade teacher inspired me to become a teacher with her kindness and hard work. She changed so many lives with her positive attitude towards her students, and I wanted to do the same! Thank you Mrs. Travis! You rock!
What inspires you? When I meet people who are extremely hard workers and super goal-oriented. They can have rough days but are still so kind hearted, optimistic, and love to spread positivity everywhere they go. Those kind of people inspire me!
Favorite Quote: Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow.

Why did you become a teacher or why did you want to work in a school?
I have always loved interacting with children. There are many little joys that come from teaching. Such as funny things kids say, the insightful questions they ask, and the amusing stories they tell. I love meeting new faces and new personalities each school year.
What inspires you?
My mom inspires me! She is also a teacher and has taught me a lot.
What is your favorite quote?
"Be comfortable being uncomfortable."

We LOVE Reading!
Our teachers are working hard with the Fountas and Pinnell Literacy curriculum that provide students many opportunities to read and interact with a variety of texts throughout the school day. Teachers read aloud to students through Interactive Read Alouds (Grades K-6) and/or through Shared Reading (Grades K-3). Students are also able to choose independent reading books that are of interest to them and at their reading level. Students are given opportunities to meet in a small group to read books that are more challenging with teacher support and instruction. Have you ever joined a book club? Well, students have opportunities throughout the year to be part of book clubs in their classroom where they get to choose a book to read and meet with their peers to discuss their thoughts/feelings about the book. Through the Fountas and Pinnell Literacy curriculum, students are exposed to a variety of reading methods and rich texts throughout the school day.
Parents, guardians, and caregivers are an integral part of a child’s literacy development. Here are some ways to support your child at home:
Listen to your child read books that are sent home from school
Read books aloud to your child
Talk about books together (i.e. who is the main character, what is the problem/solution?)
Visit the public library
Encourage your child to write for authentic purposes (i.e grocery list, directions, a letter or postcard)
Sing songs or recite poetry together
Talk with your child about a variety of topics
Encourage imaginative play

We look forward to a memorable and fun celebration for all students! If your student cannot participate, please email your child’s teacher by October 25th.

We are hoping that Mother Nature cooperates.

Only parents who are signed up to help with classroom parties will be allowed to participate. Students will be dismissed from school at 3:05 pm.

We look forward to students being able to wear their Halloween and/or fall gear for the day at school. We strongly encourage children to wear costumes that are comfortable and appropriate for school. Students will NOT be allowed to wear costumes that do not meet the guidelines. Please review and follow the below guidelines when choosing a costume this year. If your child does not celebrate Halloween, please email the teacher and your child will go to the library and can participate in a fall independent activity.
