Beaverton Safe Routes to School is accepting submissions from students in grades K-8! Our theme this year is “See and Be Seen.” We can’t wait to see your art!

Contest directions:

• Draw a picture showing how you can see and be seen as you walk and roll in your neighborhood.

• Submission deadline is 1/31/24 to your teacher.

• Please use 8 ½ x 11 paper.

• Drawings, paintings, and digital art accepted.

• Use lots of colors to catch everyone’s attention.

• Limit the number of words on the page.

• Include name, grade, and school on the back of your entry.

As a school community, we will recognize Black Lives Matter at School the week of February 5-9.

Started in 2017 and emerging from the efforts of Philadelphia-area educators, the Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action is in its 8th year. Read more about the history of the week here. From BLM at School:

“The Week of Action centers 13 guiding principles and 4 demands of Black Lives Matter at School. From double dutch parties to rallies in front of the department of education, students, educators, families, unions, and community organizations participate both in and outside of the classroom. This year’s theme is Collective Value. The Black Lives Matter at School guiding principle of Collective Values states, “We are guided by the fact that all Black lives, regardless of sex assigned at birth, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, economic status, ability, disability, education, location, age, immigration status, religious beliefs or disbeliefs, matter. None of us are free until we are all free.” We encourage all to participate in the Week of Action.

Please note that summer sessions will be offered for Elementary, Middle School and High School students from July 1st - 25th. More information is to come.

Click on the link above and be sure to sign up to volunteer! It takes up to 10 days to approve a volunteer application. The sooner you get the application completed, the better. Stay tuned for more information from SECO, our community organization.

We get a tremendous amount of things in our lost and found each year and when they are not claimed, we donate it to the clothes for kids program. Please label all things brought to school with a first name and last initial so we can get it back to the rightful owner! Thank you!
