Parent Teacher Conferences
The ability to sign up for a conference online will close TODAY (Friday, October 13, 2023) at 7:00PM. After this deadline, please contact your child's teacher directly to schedule a conference time.
We will also send a ParentSquare reminder at 6:00PM. If you have already signed up for a conference, please disregard that message.
Barn Hill In-House Field Trip
On Friday, October 20, 2023, Barn Hill Preserve will come to Woodward Mill to host an in-house field trip for all students. During this time, students will get to see and learn about different animals such as owls, tortoises, and lizards just to name a few. There is also an optional activity for students to take pictures with the animals or buy souvenirs! Students will be bring home a permission slip/order form. Attached here is a digital version of the form to print out if needed. Please make sure that you sign off to give permission for your child to attend and if they will purchase souvenirs. See form for payment options.
Field Day
It's that time of year again! Our Field Days will be here before you know it at Woodward Mill! Parents/Guardians will be able to attend our Field Day event at Woodward Mill. You will have the opportunity to come as a visitor or as a volunteer. Please keep in mind you will not be able to enter your child's homeroom on Field Day. Field Day will take place in the gym and the recess area outside. All visitors and volunteers must enter and exit the building through the front lobby doors of the school. When you enter the building, please have your ID ready to check-in at the front desk where you will receive a visitor pass. This pass must be visible and worn for the entirety of your visit.
If you plan to help volunteer for Field Day:
- To help our students have an extra fun and smooth Field Day we will need volunteers to help with the flow of our Field Days. Volunteers will be assigned to help run a station on Field Day during the times selected from SignUp.com (see link below).
- If you wish to travel with your child and their class from station to station on Field Day, then please select another date to volunteer on a different grade level's Field Day.
Tuesday, October 24, 2023 - Kindergarten and 1st Grade Field Day
Wednesday, October 25, 2023 - 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade Field Day
Thursday, October 26, 2023 - 4th Grade and 5th Grade Field Day

Red Ribbon Week
Calendar
This year, GCPS will ask students (grades 6-12), staff and parents to view the four (4) available calendar options for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years and vote on the calendar of your choice. You will be able to vote only one time. Please click here for more information.
How do you get the survey link?
The survey will be sent to all parents by email. The email will come from Gwinnett County Public Schools and the email address is noreply@qemailserver.com. The subject line will be "GCPS Proposed 2024-2026 School Calendars".
You will confirm your identity by entering the email when you click on the link you were sent.
When does the survey close?
The survey will close on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at 11:59PM.

Media Center
During October and November, the Beanstack challenge is to read and log 600 minutes! At the end of November, we will hold a raffle to award prizes to randomly-selected readers, who achieve their goal, on each grade level.
Students can access Beanstack through eCLASS or the media center link of the school website. Refer to the Beanstack Reading Program link on the media center page of the website for detailed instructions on how to log reading minutes in Beanstack.
Students will use their GCPS student number and birthday month and date (MMDD) to log into Beanstack. If you have any questions, please contact email Jennifer.Alden@gcpsk12.org. Happy Fall Reading!

Want to LEARN how to be your child’s first best teacher through PLAY?
Gwinnett County Public Schools offers a BIRTH TO FIVE program for you and your child at Woodward Mill! Children and parents are invited to come each Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. -10:30a.m.
You will:
- Learn how to find the teachable moments in everyday activities
- Learn how to engage with your child in play
- Learn how to continue the learning at home or anywhere
- Learn about your child’s educational milestones
- Learn how to get your child ready for school!

Parents of 5th Grade Students
All 5th Grade students will participate in Lifelines, an evidence-based suicide prevention curriculum. A parent letter explaining Lifelines was previously sent home in the Friday Folder. GCPS 2023-2024 School Calendar
Please click on the link to view the calendar for the 2023-2024 school year.
This approved calendar features seven days of preplanning for teachers, a start date of August 2, 2023, and four digital learning days. The four digital learning days are scheduled throughout the year, with two occurring in 1st semester and two in 2nd semester. The calendar also features a fall break in October, a two-week winter break, a three-day break in February, a week scheduled for spring break, and an end date of May 22nd, 2024.
GCPS 1:1 Initiative
- All GCPS students will have a Chromebook assigned to them for the 2023-2024 school year. Students can also check out a hot spot for internet access based on demonstrated need. Families may contact their schools to discuss options.
- If a GCPS technology resource is assigned to a student and taken home, it is the family's responsibility to monitor the use of the device to ensure that the device is returned in the condition in which it was received.
