ATTENTION NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY MEMBERS!
LOHS BACKPACK CLUB'S FIRST ANNUAL 4K YOUR WAY
We hope you will consider a donation and cheer on participants at Lake Oswego High School on October 1st at 7:00pm.
All money raised will be used to purchase food (at a huge discount) throughout the year. This food will be packed by the Backpack Club at Lake Oswego High School. The club will deliver these weekend food packs to schools who will then place these packs into the backpacks of kids in Oregon.
You might be wondering, “Why 4K?” $4 helps feed one child in Oregon for a weekend. The family registration fee of $130 feeds one child every weekend for an entire school year. Donating to the 2022 4K YOUR WAY, you can change a kid’s life. Providing extra nutritional support on weekends when kids don’t have access to free lunches at school has proven to increase test scores, grades, attendance, and behavior, AND shows children that they are seen and cared about.

UNITED STATES SENATE YOUTH PROGRAM
This annual scholarship competition, funded by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation and endorsed by the U.S. Senate, is a unique educational experience for outstanding high school students interested in pursuing careers in public service. Two Oregon delegates will each receive a $10,000 college scholarship for undergraduate studies and attend a one-week, all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. on March 4-11 2023.
All high school juniors and seniors must be nominated to apply by their high school principal or designated school official in order to be considered for the program. Nominated students must show demonstrated leadership through public service in elected or appointed positions in organizations that relate to government, public affairs, history and/or community service.
If you are interested in representing Lake Oswego High School and meet the requirements outlined in the PDF below, please send an email to Mrs. Colyer no later than Friday, September 30 at 10:15 a.m.
New Application for School Volunteers
For the safety of children, volunteers are required to have an approved background check when volunteering in schools.
To help streamline compliance with state and school board policies, which require that all volunteers have background checks and knowledge of other board policies -- as well as state-mandated proof of vaccination (or a qualified exemption) -- we are introducing a new all-in-one volunteer application and approval process through ou Raptor Visitor Management System.
Submitting an online application initiates the background check process. Once submitted, applicants will receive an email upon approval of your background check and you will be given access through the onsite Raptor System at all schools. Please allow up to three weeks to process your approval.
Volunteers need to submit only one application for volunteering in all LOSD schools. Applications need to be submitted annually to capture changes in background checks, policies, and/or vaccination requirements.
Volunteer Application for LOSD
Thank you for applying promptly, and for your service to our students and schools. We are grateful for our volunteers.

Ways to report incidents related to bias, racism or harassment in losd
Parents-guardians who have concerns about a student’s well-being are encouraged to reach out to their principal, and to maintain strong lines of communication and partnership between students, families, staff, and other resources. SafeOregon is also an effective way to report a tip regarding safety threats or potential acts of violence to our students or schools. Students should also be aware that intentionally providing a false report is a serious offense. https://www.safeoregon.com/
In addition, below are reporting methods for parents-guardians or students to use to report issues related to racist, bias, or harassment incidents.
