Lake Agassiz Elementary School
December 2023
Message From Mrs. Jonasson & Mrs. Riewer
December Greetings!
We have just 1 week of school remaining in 2023. The last day of school before the holiday break is Friday, December 22. Trimester 1 is now behind us. If you do not receive your child's report card, please check your SPAM account. If you do not find it, please call the office so we can ensure we have the correct email address on file.
Our Lost and Found collection has grown again, we want to make sure all belongings find their way back home. Take a moment to check the lost and found near the main office before the holiday break.
The winter chill is in the air! Thank you for ensuring your students are appropriately dressed for the outdoors. Classroom teachers go outside daily unless the temperature is below zero. During long stretches of cold weather, some classrooms will still go out for a five-minute break from the indoors. It is best practice to have your child(ren) be prepared daily, especially our students who ride a bus daily.
Encourage your child to read daily over break! The public library does have holiday hours but will be open over the break if you need a good book! We encourage you to use the library and keep the love for reading alive during the break!
With winter weather comes various safety concerns. Please remind your child about the importance of following safety protocols, especially during snowy or icy conditions. If there are any changes to the school schedule due to weather, we will notify you.
We appreciate your partnership in your child's education! We wish you and your family a joyful holiday season and a Happy New Year!

GFPS Remote Learning Update
Why?
Within ND Century Code, school districts have the opportunity to provide instruction via remote learning during school cancellation due to inclement weather days. When surveyed, GFPS families indicated they prefer to engage in remote learning rather than make up missed days due to inclement weather.
Expectations:
Teachers are available via Google Meet from 10:00-11:00 am and 2:00-3:00 pm to answer student questions virtually. Please reach out to your child’s teacher via Seesaw or email if you would like a virtual meeting link. Teachers will be responding to email and/or Seesaw periodically throughout the day to provide support for students and families.
Teachers will discuss and send home packets during the first week of each month.
Students will complete the provided work for each day respectively and return the signed cover page and completed work within three (3) school days to be counted as ‘present’ for the remote learning day.
Considerations Made:
Each subject area is intended to take 15-45 minutes to complete.
Assignments included are a review of content previously taught.
Some materials that may be needed for the completion of the work include a pencil, scissors, highlighter and glue. Please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher if you would like support getting these items.
RED Events are Back!!

Lake Agassiz Report Cards will be sent out electronically be the end of the day on Tuesday, December 12th. This is a slight delay due to office staffing. If you do not receive your child's report card call our office at 746-2275.
