District updates
Proposed Measure 3-604, Local Option Levy, On Nov. 7 Ballot
The West Linn-Wilsonville School District has placed a Proposed Local Option Levy Renewal on the November Ballot. The Local Option Levy was originally passed by voters in 2000 and most recently renewed in 2019. The Levy funds approximately 90 teachers across the school district.
Learn more about Measure 3-604 on the district website. Don’t forget to vote on November 7!
October is Dyslexia Awareness Month
The West Linn-Wilsonville School District recognizes Dyslexia Awareness Month. In West Linn-Wilsonville, we are committed to every student learning to be a strong reader. Dyslexia is a neuro-biologically based difficulty in reading that impacts a student’s spelling and decoding abilities, resulting in non-fluent reading. Students with dyslexia tend to have a “sea of strengths” including reasoning, comprehension, problem-solving, vocabulary, and critical thinking. The International Dyslexia Association reports that up to 20% of students may experience dyslexia.
Learn more about dyslexia by reviewing resources in your school library, on the district website, or by visiting the International Dyslexia Association’s website.
Student Accident Insurance Information
The safety of our students is of critical importance. Even so, accidents do happen, at school and elsewhere, and required medical care can be expensive. Please know that your school does not assume responsibility for such costs but does offer access to several student accident insurance plans for voluntary participation or purchase.
To learn more about student insurance options available to families, including how eligible families can enroll in the Oregon Health Plan, please visit the district website.
WLWV Dog Reminders
Community members may notice new signs being installed on school grounds in the coming days. These signs provide reminders and expectations for bringing dogs and other pets or animals on school grounds.
As a reminder, dogs are not allowed on school property during school hours. Before and after school hours, dog owners are responsible for following City and/or County leash laws.
