Earlier this week, our Food Services Department finished 5 straight weeks of USDA Meal Box Distribution to the Strongsville community. Each Monday, nearly 42,000 lbs. of food was distributed - which translated to a grand total of 209,600 lbs. of food given away to the families in our community over the course of 5 weeks. This could not have been done without the dedication of our volunteers from the Strongsville Kiwanis Club, Church Street Ministries, the SMS/SHS Campus Life youth group, Strongsville PTA members and parents, and valuable assistance from the SCS Food Services department, the SMS Custodial department, the SCS Transportation department, and the SMS monitors & aides. SCS RESPONSIBLE RESTART COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE
Our District has created the SCS Responsible Restart Comprehensive Guide - one document in one location outlining our District’s policies and procedures. This document should be used as a guide, allowing you to quickly find answers to your questions. The guide can also be found at www.strongnet.org/restart.
As we have seen throughout the pandemic, factors can change on a daily basis and this Guide will remain adjustable and flexible to respond to state and local health guidelines.

Although we were not able to have in-person holiday concerts this year at the elementary schools, our incredible 5th grade band students put together these amazing performances. PTA REFLECTIONS CONTEST
Calling all Mustang Artists - we are looking for your submissions for the Reflections Art PTA Program! This year's theme is "I Matter Because . . . " This can be expressed through visual art, photography, literature, film production, or music composition. This is a great way for our students to express themselves through their art and tap into their critical thinking skills as well as have a chance to be recognized on a state or national level. MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MRS. CRYSTAL TACKABERRY, DISTRICT SCHOOL NURSE FOR STRONGSVILLE CITY SCHOOLS
Mrs. Crystal Tackaberry is in her 22nd year as the District School Nurse for Strongsville City Schools. Mrs. Tackaberry earned her Nursing Science degree from Queen’s University in Canada and her Masters of Education degree from Ashland University. To say the last several months have been busy for Mrs. Tackaberry and her staff of school nurses is an understatement. She and the entire Health Services department have helped lead the efforts to support our students, families, and staff with all of the procedures, policies, contact tracing, quarantines, isolations, etc. having to do with COVID-19.
“One of the best parts of my job is that I get to work with students, families, and staff at all of our District buildings. I enjoy that there are so many different aspects to promoting health and providing nursing services in my role. It is a privilege to have such positive relationships and be able to collaborate with so many District staff, and work closely with Linda Konopinski and our entire Health Services team of amazing nurses,” said Mrs. Tackaberry.

OPT IN FOR TEXT MESSAGES FROM SCS
With the abundance of emails that we all receive on a daily basis, and some being directed to spam or becoming buried in other folders in your email account, it sometimes leaves you without knowing an email was sent. One way to address this issue is to send a text that alerts an email has been sent. Although our texting option is not new for the district, families must opt in to receive our texts. Our Instructional Technology Department and Curriculum Department have partnered in the creation of the 'SCS Tech Corral.' STRONGSVILLE LACROSSE 2021 REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!
Come be a part of America’s fastest growing sport. Strongsville Youth Lacrosse has been growing since 2008 and registration for the 2021 season is now open for boys and girls in 2nd-8th grades. Indoor practices begin mid-February and the outdoor season will run from late March through May. All experience levels welcome. Great Lakes Science Center Learning Lab
Great Lakes Science Center’s new Learning Lab program supports working parents who need daytime childcare for their school-age children. The program provides a safe, supportive environment where children can do their schoolwork virtually. Many of the Science Center’s health and safety procedures for programming during the pandemic were developed for Camp Curiosity, which served more than 1,000 children this summer.
