Congratulations National Junior Honor Society Inductees
Last week Stallion Nation inducted twenty-five members into the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). This prestigious organization celebrates students who exhibit consistent academic excellence with a focus on scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Current members were also recognized for logging dozens of community service hours, organizing charitable campaigns, and, cleaning up the community. We are so proud of our new and returning NJHS members for all of their hard work this school year!
BSMS Hosts Youth Engagement Events
Through our partnerships with community organizations dedicated to our leaders and scholars, our building was selected as the host site for two amazing events. On May 4th, The Purple Boots Male Mentoring Program participated in a RC car and Drone competition held at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School. The event was hosted by the John Lancaster & W. Cecil Short Foundation, Tau Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity, Inc., and the Cyber Green Group. The goal of this event was to expose students to aerial drones and RC car competition. The demand for drone pilots is on the rise and projections indicate 100,000 jobs will be created for drone pilots by 2025. We can't wait to have our boys represent Stoddert in next year's competition.
We also hosted a Youth Global Service Day event through our partnership with Stella's Girls. The event highlighted the need for community members to come together to support the growing number of families dealing with food insecurity. Participants packed over 200 bags of food and snacks to be distributed to teens through the DMV area. It was absolutely amazing to see so many of our scholars come out to speak about the need for community service and fellowship.

Scholars should turn in both their laptop and laptop charger. Over the summer, our computer analysts will begin preparing laptops for the upcoming school year.
