MES Soaring to Success
Principal weekly update
Good afternoon parents!
Thank you to all of the families who attended the Danbury Hat Tricks game on Saturday! It was a great time. It was so good to see so many families there and enjoying time with each other.
Last issue of my principal update explained about the special recess in the snow I want to have next time we have snow on the ground that can be played in. I will definitely send out a message before so you will be prepared to send all of the necessary items in. Also if anyone has extra snow pants, boots, gloves or jackets I know the Student council is going to talk about collecting extras for those who might need them. Please feel free to send in any extras for us to keep here!
One concern I wanted to bring up to parents is that students are buying ice cream for each other. Although it is a such a kind gesture I have to tell them no. We do not know if students are allergic to dairy and this could be a medical issue. Also please make sure your students accounts are up to date as the cafe can not sell ice cream to students if they have a negative balance. This will definitely help with some misunderstandings and is greatly appreciated!
Our next parent coffee hour will be for January/February to be held on February 2. We will be discussing Ben's Bells and our Year of Kindness!
Have a great week!
Mrs. Pinho

A Note from the Nurse
When should I keep my child home from school?
Consider keeping your child home if they:
- Have a fever of 100.1 degrees or higher
- Have been vomiting
- Have pink eye(s)
- Have flu like symptoms
- Have Covid-19 like symptoms or have tested positive for Covid-19 [please see school nurse for updated guidelines and recommendations]
- Have symptoms preventing them from participating in school such as:
- Excessive tiredness or lack of appetite
- Productive coughing or sneezing, inability to consistently cover cough/sneeze
- Headache, body aches, earache
- Sore throat
- Rash
- Keep your child home until their fever has been gone for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication. Please see school nurse for updated guidelines and recommendations concerning Covid-19. Colds can be contagious for at least 48 hours. Although your child's presence in school is important, returning to school too soon may slow the recovery process and expose others unnecessarily to illness.
