Volunteers and Donations NEEDED
DPMS Music is excited to welcome back the annual Haunted House on Friday, October 28 2022 from 5-8PM! Children and families come from around our community to be a part of this massive event. Join us for boos, giggles, and community.
We need volunteers for several parts of the Haunted House, from set up, to selling tickets and/or food, playing games, actors, and tear down. Please look through the available time slots to see where you can help us make this an enjoyable, spooky time for our students and families.
Spirit Week
Spirit Week is upon us and we are happy to close out the grading period with a bit of fun. Students must adhere to our Dress Code during Spirit Days. Also, "Anything But A Backpack" was a great hit last year. However, students cannot bring grocery carts on campus. Lastly, students cannot wear masks or bring fake weapons on Halloween. They are welcome to apply face make-up as spooky as they wish.
Grading Period ends on Friday 10/28
The first quarter ends on Friday and we will send home Progress Reports on Friday, November 4. Please reach out to your child's teacher with any concerns.
Fall Dance on Thursday, November 10
ASB will be hosting a dance on Thursday, November 10. 6th graders will attend during 5th period and 7th & 8th graders will attend during 6th period. This is free for all students to attend. This is a casual dance and everyday school clothes with comfortable shoes are encouraged.
- ANY STUDENT WITH 10 OR MORE TARDIES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND THE DANCE.
- Students with more than 10 tardies can work off their tardies during lunch or after school.
- 30 minute lunch detention clears 3 tardies.
- 60 minutes after school on Monday or Wednesday clears 6 tardies.
- Students who choose to scrape gum during this time will get two times as many tardies cleared.
- An email was sent home to all students with 10 or more tardies.
- The last day to clear tardies is Tuesday, November 8.
Mints instead of gum
LCFF Form Update in Parent Portal
We got a significant increase to LCFF forms due to rewarding students with their ID card. We have less than 75 students to complete. Great job! We cannot accept forms after October 25th. We have sent home paper forms for students who did not complete via Parent Portal.
We need to get to 100%. To update this form, you must access it on a desktop or laptop. It is not accessible by mobile phone. It just takes less than a 30 seconds under the forms section. Completing this secures critical funding for our school. Last year, our school recorded that 44% of our families qualify for Title 1 funds. This brings in over $100K in funding to De Portola. If you need support accessing Parent Portal, please email Mr. Hamilton at ehamiltonjr@sandi.net.
Late Activity Bus
The late bus will be available for students beginning Monday, September 26. The late bus is offered on Mondays and Wednesdays for students. Students who choose to stay must make arrangements with a staff member for a club or tutoring. Students must present their Z Pass to ride the bus home.
Reporting absences
Absences outside of illness such as death in the family, military deployment leaves, injuries, regular appointments such as doctor, dentist, and orthodontist are excused. Absences outside of the above listed examples should be reported as "personal reasons, non-Covid related". Thank you for your honesty with reporting absences. We are far more concerned about the health and safety of our students and staff than we are with unexcused absences.
Please call the office at 619-605-4800 and press 3 or email Miss Dora at dbriggs@sandi.net for all absences.
