From the Principal
June, 2023
Hello, Lodi High School Families -
Another successful school year at LHS has come to a close. I say successful only because of the dedication of our staff, the support of our families, the collaboration with the community, and of course, the hard work of our tremendously talented students. The successes of a school year are not only generated within the walls of the building, but are attributed towards everyone, inside and out, finding ways to help our students grow and find success.
LHS families, thank you so much for being part of a such an outstanding team.
Have a great summer,
Joe Jelinek
Good luck and congratulations to the graduating class of 2023!

State Solo/Ensemble
Congratulations to the 15 Lodi Music events that qualified for STATE Solo/Ensemble at UW-Whitewater this year! And extra special congratulations to Treble in Paradise (contemporary a cappella vocal group) and Sasha Rudnytsky (piano solo), who both received an Exemplary Performance Award for their outstanding State S/E performances.
Exemplary Performance Awards expand recognition of outstanding performers at WSMA State Solo & Ensemble Festivals. State festival adjudicators select the most exceptional performances at each of the festival campuses through a two-step process. It is a way to honor and congratulate the performances that really made the adjudicators say, "Wow!".
Way to go LHS Music! #LodiPride
School Forest
Did you know the School District of Lodi owns approximately 40 acres of land that is a registered School Forest? This invaluable resource is located just north of Lodi near the intersection of County J and Koltes Road. Throughout the 2022-23 school year, a team of educators and community members have been working to improve the use of the Lodi School Forest.
Students from the Lodi High School Field Ecology have been at work visiting the School Forest this semester to assess forest health, and recently got to work with DNR foresters on marking trees that are ready to be harvested. Students learned the process of how tree basal area and volume is determined and the order of selection to sustainably remove trees and improve forest health. Check out the pictures of our young foresters in action.
Other highlights from the school forest this year include:
Trail Trekkers Club hiking and invasive species removal
Cross Country team training
Timber Inventory completed by DNR Forester and development of sustainable forest management plan
Staff professional development on the School Forest
Signage improvements from the Lodi High School FabLab
Interested in getting involved and supporting the forest? Great! We would love your help! There are numerous ways to support the School Forest including: trail maintenance, invasive species removal, curriculum planning, chaperoning trips, and more. If you are interested in any of these, please fill out this survey: https://forms.gle/NkiWYs2qxHnoYzHx7 or contact Leo Olson via email olsonle@lodischoolswi.org

FFA Update - May
FFA is wrapping up our school year in a big way. May saw two big events - a fundraiser and a celebration. First we held our annual plant sale fundraiser in connection with the Greenhouse Management Class. Students in that class have been caring for the plants since February and finally get to see the payoff - literally. Thank you to everyone who purchased plants from our sale. If you’re still looking for plants to fill out your flower beds and pots just stop by behind the greenhouse, make a selection, and leave a donation. Thank you!
On May 15th we held the 2023 Lodi FFA Banquet. The night started out with a meal catered by Dickie’s Barbecue. We then moved into the PAC for the awards ceremony. Highlights of the evening included a welcome by State Treasurer Cole Hicken, Discovery, Greenhand, and Chapter Degree award ceremonies, induction of Honorary Chapter degree members, and Paige Sweatt’s Retiring Address. We gave our Appreciation awards to Blue Star Dairy, Lodi Sausage, and Rachel Wipperfurth. We inducted Paul and Jenny Sweatt and Heidi Endres as Honorary Chapter members. Josie Varney won the Star Discovery Degree. Natalie Detert won the Star Greenhand award. Brayden Kurt took home the Chapter Star Farmer and Brook Endres was awarded the Chapter Star in Ag Placement. Thank you to all who came out and supported our members!
Food Service
First of all, let me thank everyone for your support! We end the year in the food service department on a great note. We had our regional Chef Josh Good here to make Chicken Tinga Tostadas for the students and staff. The students were excited to meet the chef and were very welcoming to him. They asked him a lot of questions which was awesome.
Food Service was also featured for the last student advocate broadcast. The topic was school lunches. Thank you to the students and staff who gave feedback, Mr. Puls, Hayden, Logan, Bela, Grant and of course Colton who did the interviewing, great job! We really want feedback from everyone so we know what you want at your lunches.
Some of our other highlights this month were grilled cheese with soup, goulash, margarita pizza, baked potato bar, sweet potatoes and fresh asparagus. We are working on getting some lavender for the new school year so we can highlight it again.
Taher Food Service congratulates all who are graduating and we wish you the best in all your future endeavors.
I wish everyone a happy, safe and relaxing summer but most of all have some fun! See you next year with more fun food for you to try!
Diane and the Food Service Department.

Nurse's Notes
Nurse’s Notes:
It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the school year and rolling into summer. Please review the information below so your student is ready for summer and the start of the next school year.
Medication Pick-Up:
Please remember to pick up all of your student's medication from the nurse’s office by the end of the school day on Tuesday, June 6th. Any leftover medication left at the school will be properly disposed of and cannot stay in the nurse's office over the summer. If your student has an emergent medication at school and will be attending summer school then we will make sure that will stay with the summer school program.
Summer Checklist for Medication and Immunizations:
If your child will be having their annual physical over the summer then there are a couple of things to keep in mind.
Medication: Any prescribed medication for school we will need your doctor to complete a medication form with their signature along with parent signature. Medication must be in the original container for the school to accept. Attached are forms that you can print off and take with you to your child’s appointment.
Immunizations: Ask your doctor to review your child’s immunizations. If immunizations are needed, get them caught up. If your child is being seen because they are sick, follow your physician recommendations. Please update the immunization form if your child has received any vaccines over the summer and turn it in to your child’s school office at the start of the school year.
