Principal's Message from Mr. Grilo
Ahoy Tinc Road Families!
We had a visit from Capt. Tinc-Beard during our "Dress like a Marauder/Talk like a Pirate" Day festivities! The students and staff embraced the spirit of Pirates with festive costumes and voices around the school.
Next week, We will recognize the Week of Respect from October 2nd - October 6th. Our counselors, Mrs. Barba and Mrs. Szast will provide age appropriate activities and instruction focused on character development and bullying prevention. We encourage all of our students to participate in the Spirit Week which can be found under the "School Counselor's Corner" section of this newsletter.
Look below in our PTO section for Trunk or Treat sign ups from the Tinc Rd. PTO. This year's event, taking place on Friday October 20th at 7:00 pm, promises to be better than ever in our front parking lot but we need many families to participate to make it great!

Nomination Form for Teacher and Educational Professional of the Year
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The Mount Olive Township School District recognizes the significant impact that social media and the internet have on our students. In an effort to support our families, we are proud to partner with Cyber Safety Cop to host the seminar, Parenting in the Digital World, a 90-minute, engaging, and eye-opening presentation about what is really going on in our children's digital world. The seminar will take place on Tuesday, October 10th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Mount Olive High School Performing Arts Center (PAC).
In this “new normal” where children are learning online from home, they are exposed more than ever to online predators and the damaging effects of screen time. This seminar will show you the current games, and apps teens are using today. Secondly, cyber bullying and other online threats are defined with current trends and real-world examples investigated in schools. Lastly, participants will be given tools and an action plan that they can immediately begin using to help keep their children safe online.
Topics discussed:
Current apps kids are using and what you need to know about them
Risks associated with popular social media sites
"Sexting" and online predators
How to set expectations and consequences
How to monitor online activity and find secret Instagram accounts
How to talk to your child about pornography
Parental controls and privacy settings
Please note the seminar is FOR PARENTS ONLY. NO CHILDREN ARE ALLOWED IN THE PRESENTATION.
Students in grades 5-12 will have a presentation conducted by Cyber Security Cop during the school day. Their presentation will cover similar topics but with an emphasis on the student perspective. If you prefer your child not to attend the presentation, please email their school principal to inform them.
In an effort to ensure we can adequately plan for the event, please take a moment to fill out this Google form, if you plan on attending. Please note by filling out this form, you are not obligated to attend. Guests are also welcome to attend, if they do not fill out the form beforehand.
For more information about the event, please contact Mrs. Carissa Caliguiri at carissa.caliguiri@motsd.org.
