FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
I hope this message finds you well and enjoying some time with family and friends! I also want to wish you all a very happy 4th of July, as we celebrate our nation's independence in the upcoming week.
If you've been following us on social media, you know that over the past week we've been making headway on a few major projects for the summer. This includes the arrival and assembly of our brand new desks and chairs for our 5th grade and middle school ELA classrooms, as well as the arrival of the new elementary wing windows which will be installed this month. Furthermore, earlier this week a new server was installed on our computer network which will allow for additional file storage space, better performance, and improved security for school documents and data.
We are also in the midst of ordering textbooks and supplies for the upcoming school year, including materials for our new Friendzy program, a biblically based character building program for all students in grade PK-8. The program includes weekly direct instruction as well as various activities, modeling, and touch points as part of student's daily experience at school. For more information, see the slides here.
Summer camps are also in full swing, with the first session of our Best Summer Break camp last week, and Mrs. Bloom's Sports Camp this week. Students are having a great time enjoying friends, sunshine, and various activities. It's wonderful to continue to see students in our building throughout the summer months.
What's coming up in the weeks ahead? Here are a few things in the works:
- Initial work on our Community Action Program for the upcoming school year, which will bring in partners from our community to provide instruction on practical life-skills (i.e. personal finances, basic carpentry and repairs, etc.), beginning at the middle school level and expanding to the lower grades.
- In our continued efforts to streamline communications and access to school related information, we are planning to pilot a fully functional FACTS App that can be installed on Apple and Android smart phones to allow for easy access to everything from grades to lunch orders and more. Many more details to come in the weeks ahead!
- Revisions to our Parent-Student Handbook focused on new policies and procedures established by our Discipline Committee as part of our 4-Year Strategic Plan. Revised handbooks will be shared with families upon completion.
Lastly, don't forget to view our Partners in Education included at the end of our Newsletter. In particular, we welcome two new Partners in Education - Caluori Insurance and Olde Theater Diner. We're so grateful for their support of our school!
Please be sure to continue reading for additional updates and information for the coming weeks!
FJVD Youth Group - Continuing Through the Summer!
Our next Youth Group meeting is this upcoming Wednesday, July 5th beginning at 6:15pm.
As a reminder, the evening begins at 6:15pm and consists of approximately 20 minutes of guided prayer, music, and reflection in the Church, followed by social activities for students. Youth group concludes at 7:30pm, with pick-up outside of the school gym.
We look forward to seeing you there!
FJVD Drama Club Presents Elf, Jr.!

As always, be assured of my prayers for you and your families.
