TCI Implementation

The Curriculum Maps reflect the adoption of the TCI textbooks and digital platform. To find the appropriate textbook lessons, scroll (or click) to the Curriculum and Instruction Guide section of the document. Following the Unpacked Standards, Content Elaborations, Instructional Strategies, Sample Assessments and Performance Tasks, and Instructional Resources, you will find a separate page labeled Adopted Textbook Resources. The page is included for each Learning Target in the course.

Keep in mind that the textbook is one resource that helps you meet the required standards in each course. In some instances, there are many more textbook lessons than a teacher likely could use in a given year. You may also find it advantageous to use additional resources (also linked in guide) for some standards. In short, allow the standards and the curriculum to drive instruction and the textbook and additional resources to support the curriculum.

Hard Copy Class Sets: History Alive! The Ancient World and Geography Alive! Regions and People

Digital: History Alive! CCS Edition: This is a custom edition created specifically for CCS and aligned with the order of the CCS curriculum map. It includes both the Ancient World and Geography Alive! content integrated into one product.

Grade 6 standards are primarily concept and skill-based standards, rather than lists of content facts. It is not necessary to use all the lessons in this program to meet the standards. Geography standards, for example, may be incorporated into lessons on ancient history or the modern world.

All teacher materials are contained in the digital platform. Teacher materials can be projected in presentation format and/or printed as PDF files. There is no teacher's wrap-around edition. All student materials can be accessed via the digital platform and/or printed as PDF files. This includes the textbook, interactive notebook and lesson handouts.
