From the Principal's desk...
Kia ora koutou,
It’s hard to believe 20% of the term has already gone. I would like to acknowledge the school community for taking on board the student attendance message from last week. As a result we have had one of the best starts to a term attendance wise, in the last two years. Ka pai!
Rugby World Cup fever has captured the imagination of the students, buoyed by the All Blacks inspirational win over the Irish last weekend. What a result! The sheer determination, quality teamwork, and relentless resilience was phenomenal. Good luck to Sam Cane and the team against the ever improving Argentinians.
Have a wonderful Labour Weekend.
Nell Tilley
As a school community we acknowledge the recent passing of Nell Tilley. Nell was an amazing supporter of Stanley Avenue School. Nell had a heart of gold, a cheeky sense of humour and was incredibly loyal. Nell fought fiercely with her illness over the last few years and showed us what it meant to persevere, stay positive and be there for her loved ones. Even when Nell’s health was failing her she still managed a smile and a joke, which is something we can all learn from.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to Brian, Holly, Pene, Rose, Sahara and Rhythm at this time. Moe mai ra e hoa!

Term 4 Teacher Only Day
Kids Club will be operating from 7am to 5.30pm. Please book in with Rachael on 028 467 3093
our sincere condolences.....
Some of you will remember or know Kerrin, who is currently an RTLB in our district, and who has previously been Stanley Ave School's Assistant Principal and Lead Teacher. Michael is a past pupil and along with his brother Steven went on to Te Aroha College after graduating primary school here.
Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with Kerrin and family as they prepare to say goodbye to a much loved family member.
'Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard but always near, so loved, so missed and held so dear.'

Free Balls!
Imagine our surprise this week, when we had a delivery of a box full of sports balls!
We didn’t order them, so we were a little bewildered.... until we got to the bottom of the box.
A huge thank you to Rebecca Prince who kindly nominated Stanley Avenue School to the Westpac and ISport Foundation!! . We are extremely fortunate to have been chosen and we love that you were thinking of our tamariki and how much they love sport!
We know that our community nominate us at times for all sorts of different things and it is truely appreciated. Thank you again.
Shake out at Stanley Ave

Friday night Junior Touch
Our kids had a blast and it was wonderful to see them come together and enjoy the great outdoors, while partaking in some friendly competition with others kids from around the district.
Get along to support the teams if you can and make the most of the next 5 weeks.
A huge thank you to Ange and Fraser Shallue, and Waihou Rugby Club for the huge part they play in bringing touch to our tamariki.
Please remember to let all of the volunteers know what a wonderful job they do, when you see them on and around the fields.
Thai Students visit Stanley Ave
On Friday 13th October, Stanley Ave had a visit from the Thailand exchange students. The students arrived at 9:30am and were welcomed by a Kapa Haka performance.
At 10am, the Thai students taught us some cultural games for example, word chain, clothing duck duck goose, and a snake game. During morning tea everyone was hanging out at the courts or getting a tour of the school.
The Thai students practised athletics with us. They were great runners and took part in a successful relay race. Name art was next on the list, everyone enjoyed art time. After lunch, Team Ruru and the Thai students finished the day with a "Just Dance."
