ROCORI Secondary School Update

ROCORI Families:
I know we just passed the halfway point of this school year, but it is already time to consider what courses your student will take in 2024-25! I would encourage you to talk to your student and discuss what they are good at, what they are passionate about, and what they want to do when High School is done. These are “for now” decisions, not forever decisions, but they do allow your student to explore their interests and hopefully find something they want to pursue in the future.
High School registration materials went out to students in homeroom on Wednesday, so please take a few minutes to review. The SIGNED registration forms are due back to homeroom on Wednesday, Feb 7th. I hope this provides a space for you to have productive conversations about the future with your student. If you need clarification on anything in registration, please reach out to our administrative team or guidance office for further clarification.

2024-25 CLASS REGISTRATION INFORMATION
We want families to be aware that we will begin to register for classes in February.
RHS Grades 9-11
High School registration materials went out to students in homeroom on Wednesday. Parents, please visit with your students about their choices and look at needed requirements. SIGNED registration forms are due back to homeroom on Wednesday, February 7th.
RMS Grades 6-8
Students will register for their next year classes in their English classrooms next week.

ACT TEST @ RHS
Save the Date: Juniors will be provided with an opportunity to take the ACT Test at ROCORI High School on March 26th, 2024 during the school day. Additional sign-up information will be available in the next few weeks.
SENIORS - CHECK FOR SCHOLARSHIPS
SENIORS - Keep checking back to the ROCORI website for possible SCHOLARSHIPS that you could be eligible to apply for this year! The list will continue to be updated throughout the spring as we are informed of more scholarship opportunities!

ORDER YOUR VALENTINE'S DAY ARRANGEMENTS
SECTION 8AA VOCAL/SOLO ENSEMBLE CONTEST
ROCORI is hosting the Section 8AA Vocal Solo/Ensemble contests next Wednesday. Willmar, Becker, and Big Lake will be joining us. We have performances scheduled every 10 minutes from 9:00am-2:10pm in the Auditorium, Choir Room, Band Room, A136, A137 for a total of 129 songs sung throughout the day!
SMART SNACK REGULATIONS
In order to meet the Federal Smart Snack regulations the ROCORI school district will be making a couple changes. Federal Smart Snack Regulations state that any food or beverage SOLD to students outside of Child Nutrition Programs on the school campus during the school day (midnight to 3:30pm) must meet federal Smart Snacks nutrition guidelines. This includes a la carte sales, vending machines, school store and fundraisers. Fundraisers are an event that includes any activity during which students exchange currency/tokens/tickets, etc. for the sale/purchase of a product.
School Store: The only beverages middle school age students (6-8) will be allowed to purchase are water, milk and 100% juice.
Fundraisers: All fundraisers that sell food or beverages during the school day must meet Smart Snack regulations.
Vending Machines: Vending Machines will not be accessible to students from midnight to 3:30pm on school days.

PHOTO RELEASE
During the school year photos may be taken of students participating in school activities and celebrating successes and accomplishments. If you do not want photos taken or shared of your child, please provide us with written notice.

GRADUATION DATE & TIME
Mark your calendars for May 31st at 7:00pm when we will celebrate the 2024 graduating class.
WINTER FORMAL
WHEN - Friday, February 23 from 8-10 PM.
WHERE - High School Gym *Enter/Exit through Door 10 by the weight room*
WHAT - DJ Herrig will be playing the music. There will be FREE Marentelli’s pizza, giveaways such as apparel and gift cards, and FREE ADMISSION.
WHO - It is open to 9th-12th grade only. *Permission forms to bring someone from a different school will be in the office.*
