Student Achievement
This past week Ms. Nardone's Technology classes took time to engineer Kites. The students had fun learning about gravity, thrust, lift and drag. Then some students actually made their own kites to try to fly! This week we are working on our last week of engineering. The students will be designing paper airplanes! Stay tuned!
On May 20th, Mrs. Efstatos' class took a virtual class trip to the Cape May Nature Center. Students learned about Horseshoe Crabs, Shorebirds, the Aquatic Food Chain, and had a chance to see the many activities the Nature Center offers to families. Students received a virtual tour of the Nature Center's beach area, Horseshoe Crab Lab, Observation Decks, Animal/Reptile/Amphibian/Bird Classroom, Nature Store, and Picnic Area.
A student in Ms. Steffan's class made a butterfly feeder to attract butterflies. She found the recipe to make the nectar in a book that was assigned to her class. The book is called Pollinating Plants; written by Karen Latchana Kenney. Tiana said that she loves watching all the different butterflies that visit her backyard throughout the summer. We hope her nectar will bring even more around this year!
Students in Ms. Simon's class have been busing making maps of our town and Brandon was so creative and used his toys at home to make a map. Miss Sost gave us a wonderful fun snack idea and Charleigh made ice cream in a bag and Amelia made mini pizza's.
Ms. Sawyer's class learned about mass and ordered items in their house from least to greatest mass. We also took a virtual trip to the Cape May Nature Center and had fun drawing some of the sea creatures we learned about.
Mrs. McCreesh's kindergarten class wrote 'How-To' books in Writer's Workshop. Students used a graphic organizer to brainstorm topics, learned how to write an engaging hook, list their materials, and use transition words!"

Climate and Culture
The Slaybaugh Complex held a virtual family fun night on June 3rd. Hosted by Miss Vezinho, it was packed with singing, dancing, trivia with Nurse Liz, a scavenger hunt, and a book read by Mrs. Ricci! Thank you to all who participated. It was great to have a fun night with our Slaybaugh students!

Mrs. Huba and Mrs. Stuhltrager provided a FUN FAMILY FEAST for each family in their class in lieu of their traditional Mother's Day Brunch and Father's Day Picnic. A feast (Tray of Chicken Parmesan & Pasta, Bread & Butter, Large Pizza, Cheesesteak, beverage) was delivered from Sal's Cafe to each student's home and games were provided for each family to enjoy while spending special time together. This grant is funded by the teachers and staff of the Egg Harbor Township School District.

Mrs. Sansom's 3rd Grade Class always celebrated the end of a great day with a Dance Party. They couldn't let a little thing like learning from home keep them from dancing. Many of the students and their families are showing that everything is going to be alright while having fun together dancing. Always remember that when given the choice to sit it out or dance- just dance!
