High School Choice Fairs offered online and in person
Families who are enrolling a child in a CMSD high school can attend a High School Choice Fair in person or get information through one of two virtual fairs.
The newly announced virtual fairs will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 7 and Monday, Feb. 14. Each of the fairs will include an overview of the high school choice process as well as information on school options and making the transition to high school. Register using this link.
CMSD will hold a second in-person High School Choice Fair from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9 at the John Marshall Campus, 3952 W. 140th St.
The District allows families to choose the schools that students attend, if space is available and, in a few cases, they meet admissions criteria.
Current eighth graders, students who will be new to the District and those who want to transfer to another high school may submit selections at ChooseCMSD.org. Families should apply by Feb. 18 for the best chance of getting their top choice.
Students who are continuously enrolled in a CMSD or eligible charter high school and live in the City of Cleveland or District from ninth grade through graduation qualify for Say Yes to Education scholarships.
The scholarships pay up to the full value of tuition at all public colleges, universities and Pell-eligible job training programs in Ohio and more than 100 private colleges and universities across the country.

Kindland partner donates KN95 masks to CMSD
The Values-in-Action Foundation is campaigning to help Cleveland also become known as Kindland, and the foundation has set an example with an act of kindness of its own.
The foundation has given 257,000 KN95 facemasks to CMSD for use by students and staff. The masks, which were donated to Values-in-Action, are valued in total at more than $430,000. CMSD requires that masks be worn in its buildings.
The District and Cleveland Teachers Union are partnering with Values-in-Action on the Kindland initiative, which is designed to make the city feel kinder, gentler, more empathetic, more caring and more supportive.
The hope is that the goodwill being sown in the schools will spread to the community.
The foundation has provided instructional materials for use in CMSD classrooms. Schools also have received lawn signs, posters and magnetic bumper stickers for display and distribution.
Students, teachers, parents, caregivers and grandparents will be encouraged to take a Kindland pledge and enroll as citizens of Kindland.

Call United Way’s 2-1-1 line for help with basic needs
United Way of Greater Cleveland’s 2-1-1 HelpLink is a free, anonymous referral service that handles calls from those who need help accessing resources such as housing support, utility assistance, mental health services, food and much more.
Using United Way's 2-1-1 HelpLink is a simple, friendly, free and confidential experience. People in need of assistance call 2-1-1 and one of United Way's 2-1-1 navigation specialists will ask a series of questions.
The navigation specialists develop customized plans using a database of more than 16,000 government, health and human services programs.
