On behalf of the students and staff at Sunshine, we would like to congratulate
- Elizabeth Adefisan, 4th Grade -- First Place
- Mohana Malpati,5th Grade -- Second Place
- Shreya Sunil, 5th Grade -- Third Place
Our students worked very hard to prepare for this competition and their efforts show. We would also like to that our teachers, Ms. Hewett, Ms. Rice, and Ms. Koca for moderating and judging this event.
The National Geography Bee is a nation-wide competition, intended to ignite student interest in geographic knowledge. Students were quizzed on facts about the United States, the continents, and many countries. Students who go on to compete at the national level are eligible for the top prize-- a $50,000 scholarship.
The next step is the state qualifying exam. We are excited for Elizabeth to represent our school. Thank you to the parents and students for making this Bee memorable. Good luck Elizabeth!
International Night Rescheduled - February 11th @ 6 PM
Sunshine STEM Academy is proud to host our annual International Night, February 11th from 6-8 PM. International Night is a celebration of the diversity in our students and staff. “Diversity” is defined as “variety”; from the United States to China, Sunshine embraces students of all different cultures into a welcoming academic and social environment.
During International Night, students will take a tour through the continents, stamping their passports along the way. Each continent will be represented by a different grade level. Our students and teachers have worked hard creating imaginative, dazzling displays with information and pictures on countries within their continents. At each station, authentic regional games will also be available with fun prizes provided by PVO.
To complement the displays, ethnic cuisine will also be served. Interested students can also participate in the Cultural Fashion Show and Dance Show. If you and your student are interested, please contact PVO.
We hope you will be able to join us in celebrating cultures from around the world. If you have any questions or suggestions for International Night, please contact Ms. Hewett at ahewett@sunshinestemacademy.org.
