Between Two Schools
Dear Wredling Parents and Guardians:
We are fortunate to live in a community that has two wonderful middle schools! We want to share with you some of the things that both middle schools do together… ways we collaborate to ensure that our students are happy, healthy, and learning!
Our middle school principals meet weekly to talk about topics that are impacting both of our schools. From IAR data to culture building activities to bullying prevention. We work together, share (and steal) ideas, and discuss how to make our schools better!
Our SSCs (deans) and Assistant Principals meet regularly for training and conversation about how best to support students.
We have professional learning communities (PLCs) that meet regularly cross-river. Our explore teachers, world language teachers and our fine arts teachers, Zoom with each other during our early release days and morning PLC meetings so that they coordinate and compare assessment data with their same class peers (i.e. Fashion Design, Spanish, Band, etc.).
We coordinate SEL (social-emotional learning) lessons, especially bullying prevention.
Both schools coordinate Friday Forecast messages so that we send similar messages to parents.
Similar opportunities for students at both schools to be involved via interscholastic athletics, music programming and clubs.
Both schools have purchased HUDL, a camera system in our gym, so that we can increase parent and community engagement with music concerts and athletics.
By working together we ensure a high quality educational experience for each middle school student!

Notes From the Main Office
We need lunchroom workers at Wredling!
Wredling is looking for a few cafeteria supervisors! The hours for this position are 10:40 am - 2:00 pm on school days when students are in attendance. Perfect job for stay-at-home parents looking for a job while their own kids are at school. If you're interested contact Patricia Burton at: 331-228-5242 or by email at: patricia.burton@d303.org. Let her know Wredling sent you!
Cell Phone Reminder:
At Wredling, cell phones are expected to be off and away during the day. We do allow students to use them with permission to text or call a parent if a practice or club is canceled in the afternoon. But we have seen an increase of students texting their parents because they are unhappy about something that happened during the day, and they need a parent to reassure them or rescue them.
By middle school, we want our students to become strong self-advocates within our systems. That means going to a counselor, asking a teacher to come to the office to use a phone, or talking to another trusted adult. We are here to support your child during school hours.
We will start issuing detentions for students using their phones without permission during the school day. We have many people here at WMS to support your child during the day. Please reinforce this with your child at home.
