Community Outreach
Hello BHS Community!
The 6th-grade community outreach team will organize a soup collection in honor of the upcoming “Souper Bowl”! Now the “Souper Bowl” is not the football game you are thinking of, instead, it is an opportunity for our Beach Haven School community to give back and help our fellow neighbors!
This is how it will work: The entire school has been divided into two teams. The Movin’ Monkeys and the Cruisin’ Capybaras! Over the next 4 weeks, we will ask everyone to bring in any canned goods. This can be canned soup, vegetables, etc. Just like the football game, we will have four quarters. After every quarter we will announce to tell everyone how many cans each team has collected so far. At the end of the four quarters, we will announce the winner!
Remember this is not just a friendly competition, but also a way to support our local community and those in need. At the end of the 4 weeks, we will bring the canned goods to the Saint Francis food pantry. Thank you in advance for your participation, and may the best team win!
Character Theme for February- Kindness
INSPIRED TO WRITE CHALLENGE
Have your child find a magazine picture or a picture on the internet (with your guidance) of something they really like. Print or cut out that picture, then glue it on one inside panel of a folder. Have your child write a story about the picture on a piece of lined paper and glue the final copy it on the other inside panel. Your child can add a title on the front and their name as the author. Have them send it to a family member, friend, favorite teacher or principal and ask them to write something back to your child.

Every Day Matters- Attendance
Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance. This relationship between attendance and achievement may appear early in a child's school career. A recent study looking at young children found that absenteeism in kindergarten was associated with negative first grade outcomes such as greater absenteeism in subsequent years and lower achievement in reading, math, and general knowledge
Chronic Absenteeism is defined by the U.S. Department of Education as missing 15 days or more a year. If your child reaches 18 or more absences, it then has to be reported to the State of New Jersey for our School Performance Reports.
