Gratitude is in the air! November 13-19 is World Kindness Week
On Friday we joined our PTO in celebrating Gratitude Glow Night at Stoner Prairie. Such an amazing event (see pictures below). Thank you to everyone who made this very cool event a huge success. Super fun way to start the weekend and remember that kindness matters!
On that note, this week we look forward to celebrating World Kindness Week at Stoner Prairie. Please know that the staff at Stoner Prairie appreciate your trust in us as we work to support the growth and success of every scholar at our school. Encourage your scholar to share kindness with their peers, teachers, bus drivers, staff members, family members and others this week as we join together in service of shared gratitude! Sharing kindness not only helps those who receive the kind gesture but also those who give it!
In addition to kindness, we will also look forward to hearing about our school report card that will be shared with the public on Tuesday, November 14th. A separate email will be sent to you with this information. This information is used with additional data that we collect at the school to inform our school's continuous improvement plan (CIP). The CIP identifies our goals and strategies to meet those goals. for the 2023-24 school year.

Are you new? Welcome to Stoner Prairie!
We have welcomed a number of new scholars to our school already this year. This week the following scholars are new to us: May (Ms. Salzman), John (Ms. Sweet), Johangel (Ms. Durnen), and Leiker (Ms. Gerlach). To support students feeling welcomed to our school community, we will be holding lunch bunch times for our new scholars. Our school social worker, Ms. Confer, will also reach out to welcome new families and check in.
Attention: FOR FIFTH GRADE SCHOLAR FAMILIES ONLY
Fifth grade families: Human Growth and Development will be taught on Monday, November 20th. Our School Counselor, Ms. Browman, and School Nurse, Ms. Wilfer, will be co-teaching. A letter with more information will be shared this week. Please review the materials and reach out to your classroom teacher if you have any questions/concerns.
How do support teams meet the needs of all scholars?
At Stoner Prairie there are times when a team of staff are needed to support scholar health and well being. For example, if a student is injured on the playground and we need to work together to provide space and privacy for medical staff to attend to the scholar or if a scholar is having big feelings and needs attention to help regulate so they may return to the learning environment. Our response team includes staff that have been trained on non-violent crisis response protocols. In addition, when available and as appropriate our nursing, cross categorical teachers, and special education aides have also been trained and join this team. We take an all hands on deck approach to ensure the safety and well-being of all scholars when an incident takes place. Our goal is to support each and every individual learner in our building so that they receive the care and attention needed to return to our school community healthy and regulated. We work with our office staff to communicate the needs across those impacted. Whenever there is an event that may directly impact the entire school and/or specific classrooms or grade levels, a communication is sent by me. After these events, we always conduct a debrief meeting to assess what took place before, during and after the event and what went well and how we might improve should future events arise. Significant events also include families in this process. Thank you for supporting our work to help every scholar thrive at Stoner Prairie.
