Dear PV Families,
Following the recent incident at our high school, I understand that the safety and security in and around our schools is of significant concern for many. Our administration is actively reviewing safety protocols and exploring all possible measures to minimize the chances of any adverse incidents. After the winter holiday, on the evening of January 10, I will host a Superintendent's Roundtable with a focus on Safety. Chief of Police, Mr. Dean Miller, and High School Lead Principal, Dr. Cyndi Moss will be in attendance. The meeting will be structured to dedicate time to providing information about our safety protocols as well as time for questions and answers.
Recently, two of our staff members received approval from the Courts to serve as school police officers. We have three others in the pipeline for the same approval process. While it's a lengthy procedure, the District is committed to ensuring thorough vetting. Additionally, we are actively seeking candidates to fill three open positions in this regard, and our interview process is ongoing.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff are paramount. I'm eagerly anticipating these forthcoming discussions as they'll provide an opportunity to share comprehensive information about the safety measures in place within our schools.
Do not hesitate to reach out to your building principal or me with questions related to safety.
Sincerely,
Barbara A. Russell, Ed.D.
Superintendent
PVSD Police Department
