Student Highlights
Two NWR students have qualified for entry into the National Merit Scholarship based on their achievement on the PSAT/NMSQT. The students will learn of their standing in September. They have the opportunity to be named Commended Students or move on as Semifinalists. Please congratulate Honorata Lubecka and Sean Pergola!
Sean Pergola has also been accepted to the New Jersey Governor's School in the Sciences program!! This is quite an honor for Sean.
NWR sophomore Alexis "Lexie" Ashton, scored her 100th goal of her career! This marks her as the first player in school history to achieve this milestone in lacrosse. She is averaging over 5 goals a game this season and has many games and years ahead of her here. Congratulations to Lexie, team and coaches.
Marching Band competed in the "Disney National Music Festival” in Orlando Florida. The Band received a Superior rating and was awarded 1st Place in their division.
Please join us in congratulating the following students for their success competing in the recent State FFA Career Development Events: The Agricultural Mechanics team consisting of George Curreri, Charlie Kitchen, Bryan Sams, and Trevor Skow placed 2nd in the State!!! They were just points behind the school taking first and ranked above other schools with corporate sponsored mechanic and welding shops offering multiple year cerification programs. Many of these students are seniors and have plans to continue their professional training at nearby technical institutions. They will be recognized on stage at the State FFA convention and receive scholarships from the University of Northwestern Ohio. Individually, George Curreri placed 4th in the State and Trevor Skow placed 6th in the State among the top ten agriculture mechanics students.
The Floriculture team consisting of Kelly Nelson, Elizabeth Strouse, Gerri Ratajczak and Anna Rogers placed 8th in the State ranking among the top 10 competing schools. These students have studied Floriculture this year, participating in the State FFA Flower Show, helping with bouquet construction for the Spring Musical and now holistically applying what they have learned about the science, business and technology of floristry and floriculture crop production. Gerri placed 11th in the State individually.
The Veterinary Science team consisting of Meghan Scrivani, Abby Hahn, Mollie Rejano and Cassidy Correia placed 10th in the State ranking among the top 10 competing schools. Many of these students are currently studying animal science and plan to continue their education in this field in our program offerings and through post secondary training. It is with great honor that I invite you to share in the career development and success of these students!
