SFSS Weekly Newsletter
September 15th, 2023
Let's fill St. Stephen Church at 10:30 am Sept. 17 with SFSS school spirit!
The first full week has been completed and student and their teachers are finding their routines and lots of learning is happening!
We are pleased that we have 111 students enrolled and look forward to another year of growth.
We have a new staff member. Some of you have met her already. But, we would like to welcome Mrs. Paula Caito-Capozzi as our new business manager and administrative assistant. You can contact Mrs. Caito-Capozzi for assistance with registration (including address and/or phone number changes), paying your tuition, and general school questions. She will be the person contacting you for missing forms or sending you invoices/bills if you use the before or after care program.
Note for students who ride the Geneva bus. Monday, September 18 the Geneva bus will pick up students at 1:15 pm. Our school is still in session until 2:15 pm, as usual. If you want to pick your child up after school, instead of the bus, please let our office and your child's homeroom teacher know.
PTO (Parent- Teacher Organization) will meet this Wednesday, September 20 at 6:30 pm at the school. The PTO is responsible for hosting various family and student events like the Family Halloween Party, Secret Santa shop for students to buy Christmas gifts for their families, the Sweetheart dance, Boy's Bingo, and many others. They are always looking for new members to help and be part of the planning and running of the events. You can help with one or all. Many hands make for light work!
It would be so amazing to fill St. Stephen Church this Sunday at 10:30 am with our school families! We ask that students in grades 1-8 wear their uniform and show off their SFSS spirit. We have students reading and singing. We are in need of some greeters at the beginning of Mass to pass out bulletins.
Did you know we are parish supported school? That means that the parish financially supports us and the reason why tuition rates are the 2nd lowest in the entire diocese. Parishioners love our school and it's time to say thank you by being present at this Mass!
I can't wait to celebrate as a school community this Sunday at 10:30 am.
Walk-a-thon is 2 weeks away!
Time to lace up those shoes and find some pledges! This is one of our 4 main fundraisers. This fundraiser's goal is $15,000. At the time of this publication, we have raised $4,795 out of the $15,000.
The link to the pledge site is https://app.99pledges.com/fund/7thannuals
Each family received link specific for their child/children.
We do still accept cash and check donations. These can be sent to the office.
Mrs. Christina Prindle has created a letter she sent out to neighbors, family, and friends who are not tech savvy or using email or Facebook. I have attached a copy here you may choose to use and customize.
Class who reach their class fundraising goal will receive a pizza/ice cream party. Students who reach or exceed the $150 fundraising goal will be entered to win one of two gift cards.

Thank you for supporting Avicolli's and SFSS! There are two more Wednesdays.
Open Houses
This year we will have two separate open houses.
The 1st is just for families with middle school students (Grades 5-8). At this open house, parents will learn about the expectations of middle school, tips for a successful middle school year, and visit each classroom to learn about the curriculum of each subject.
The 2nd is for families with students in preschool - grade 4. At this open house, parents will be able to see the school and student work, sign up for parent-teacher conferences, and more about the class.
See flyers below for more information.
Our Busy Classrooms
5th and 6th graders work in groups to discuss the positives and negatives about their digital footprint.
2nd graders practice the skill of observation by making observations of trees.
8th grade analyzed primary sources connected to the assassination of President Lincoln. Once they have analyzed all the sources they will determine guilt or innocence of several conspirators.
Preschool and PreK students work on naming and tracing shapes.
