UEN Course Spotlight - Animations in the Creative Classroom

Educational animations can be an effective tool for both enhancing student understanding and demonstrating student learning. In this course, participants will learn how to integrate educational animations in the classroom. The course provides a series of readings, resources, links, and video tutorials that explain what educational animations are, why they are worth considering, and how to create and use them effectively. Animation tools that will be touched on in this course include Adobe Express, Canva, Google Slides, PowerPoint, Adobe Animate, and Adobe Character Animator. This course requires access to two animation tools (Adobe Animate and Adobe Character Animator) that are not free for the general public. Many teachers who are currently teaching in Utah have access to a pre-paid Adobe account through their school district or charter school. It is highly recommended that current teachers contact their school district or charter school to find out if that is the case, and to find out how to access it. If you are not currently a public school teacher, you could pay for an Adobe Creative Cloud account or download free trials of Adobe Animate and Character Animator.

Educational Technology Endorsement Program

Educators are increasingly expected to exhibit skills and knowledge of using technology to enhance student learning. The UEN Educational Technology Endorsement Program is grounded in the USBE EdTech Competencies and the Utah Effective Teaching Standards. The Competency-Based Educational Technology Endorsement is divided into four courses. Participants will come away with a portfolio of work that aligns with each competency.

Utah Science Teachers Association - September 15th

Join UtSTA for their Fall 2023 conference at the Davis Conference Center. Their keynote this year is Temple Grandin, along with dozens of breakout sessions from local science educators. Learn more at their website.

Utah Council of Teachers of Mathematics - January 30th-31st

Join UCTM for their annual conference on January 30th - 31st at the Utah Valley Convention Center in Provo, Utah. The conference will have a great pair of keynotes with Jennifer Bay Wiliams and Kevin Dykema. Learn more and register here.

UCET / UELMA 2024 - March 19th-20th

Your eyes do not deceive you. UCET and UELMA are combining forces for their 2024 conference. This year join both conferences in downtown Salt Lake City at the Salt Palace for two days of amazing learning. Keynotes, registration, and call for proposals will be share in the coming weeks. Information will be shared on UCET.org and UELMA.org.

UCET brings Edcamp to teachers across the state of Utah. In a typical school year, teachers can experience these one-day conferences in a variety of locations.
