A MESSAGE FROM MS. ELLISON
Dear Glen Grove Families,
It is hard to believe that school is about to begin! I hope that everyone had a restful summer and is ready to make the 2023-2024 school year the best one ever.
The construction crews are working around the clock to ensure that the school is ready to open for our students. It will be up to the wire and a little extra busy opening schools, but it will all be worth it. The classrooms are starting to look beautiful! I can’t wait to see the new furniture in place once it is all delivered.
Last Friday you received class placement emails. I know your child’s teacher is very excited to welcome them into the classroom community. Teachers start work on the 21st and will be communicating with families. This will be an incredibly busy time for them as it is the first time they can enter the building and we will need to unpack, deliver furniture, and everything else that goes along with opening schools!
As always, feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns.
In partnership,
Kate Ellison
Glen Grove Principal

SCHOOL WIDE MEET & GREET
We are excited to do a schoolwide meet and greet on August 22nd at 2:00. We hope that everyone can attend and get the opportunity to meet their teacher. Families are welcome to bring their school supplies if they did not order the PTA boxes. There will be a PTA sponsored popsicle party on the playground at 2:30. See you there!
STUDENT DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP PROCEDURES
Student Entry Procedures
Students may enter the building starting at 7:30 am. The classrooms will open at 7:35.
Classes will start at 7:45 am. Please also note that any students who arrive after 7:45 will be considered tardy and must check in at the office. It is important that we all do our best to get students to school on time as it helps them start their day off on the right foot.
Car Lane Entrance will be at Door B for all students. When using the car drop-off lane, please stay in a single-file line and wait to drop off your child until they are directly in front of Door B. Please do not pull out around other cars when dropping off students or try to drop students off at Door A. The efficiency and safety of the car lane depends on all of us working together!
Bus Entrance and Walk Entrance will be at Door A for 4th and 5th graders and Door G for 3rd graders.
Student Exit Procedures
Dismissal time is 2:40 pm. Please note that it is helpful to let your child’s teacher know how they will be getting home after school.
Walking students will exit Door F.
Bus riding students will exit Door A for 4th and 5th graders and Door G for third graders.
Car pick up students will exit Door B. Please make sure to stay in a single-file line and wait until you are in front of Door B before allowing your child in the car.
UPDATED PROCEDURES FOR STUDENT MATERIAL DROP OFF DURING THE SCHOOL DAY
This year we have improved security at all D34 buildings which means that the outer door to the vestibule will be locked throughout the school day. While this is great for safety and security, it will make it a bit more challenging to receive forgotten student items during the school day. While we understand that students forget things from time to time, we also want to minimize classroom disruptions and traffic in the office.
If you are dropping something off for your child in the middle of the school day, please leave it labeled on the cart in the vestibule. Our office staff will do a morning and afternoon check of the cart and notify teachers. We will also do a student delivery of materials before lunchtime to ensure everyone has what they need for lunch and recess.
WELCOME NEW EDUCATORS!
We are very excited to welcome the following new educators to our Glen Grove team. They are going to be fantastic additions!
Hello! My name is Megan Vinicky and I am thrilled to be joining the Glen Grove community as 3rd grade teacher this upcoming school year.
I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology from University of Illinois at Chicago and my Master’s degree in Elementary Education from DePaul University. This will be my 11th year as an educator and my 7th year in 3rd grade! Each year I look forward to creating strong connections with my students and their families.
Outside of school, I like to stay active by doing CrossFit or taking my dog, Noodle, on long walks. Looking forward to a fun filled year!
Hello Glen Grove Team! I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the last bit of summer! My name is Jessica Gonzalez and I will be joining the 5th grade team this coming school year. I’m super excited to get started and to get to know all of you.
I recently graduated from Roosevelt University with my degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Special Education.
I was born and raised in Chicago (Go Cubs!) and moved to Schaumburg where I currently live and completed my student teaching. Aside from teaching, I love going to concerts, traveling, attending baseball games, and learning new languages!
Hello! My name is Nicole Bright. I currently live in Chicago with my husband and 3 kids. My husband’s name is Don and our boys are Jacob, Jared and Logan. We also have a super cute puppy named Lexi who is 4 years old.
I enjoy traveling, reading, scuba diving and going on bike rides with my family.
I have been an educator since 2017. This will be my first year teaching 4th grade full time. Last year, I spent my time in the district teaching 2nd & 3rd grade. Prior to that, I have had the opportunity to teach students across multiple grade levels. I am excited for this year to be filled with growth, learning and fun.
My name is Chuluuntsetseg Togtokh. You can call me Jane. I will be joining Glen Grove as an Associate this year.
I graduated with a Bachelor and Masters degree in Mongolia. I have various experiences in different fields. I am an active member of the Mongolian community in the Chicago area. I have organized the Chicago Mongol Naadam 2022 and the Children’s Festival 2023.
My organizational skills, love of children, and teaching make me eager to give my best at Glen Grove.
Hi! My name is Rachel Hern and I am excited to be joining Glenview schools as an Occupational Therapist. I recently moved back to Chicago after a couple of years of living in New Mexico and Japan. I left Chicago about 5 years ago for an opportunity to work with military families in Okinawa, Japan. While there, I met my husband and moved with him to New Mexico and had a son (who is turning 2 later this month). We moved to Chicago (home for me) after he retired from the Air Force. In my free time, I like spending time with my family and friends, rooting for the Cubs, traveling, and doing jigsaw puzzles.
