- Message from Superintendent Andrée Grey, including LCAP Input
- School Spotlight: El Camino Creek Elementary
- EEF Band Concert
Dear Families,
This week, I had the opportunity to join over 130 students, parents, teachers, support staff, administrators and community members to launch our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) input season. This was the first of multiple formats and opportunities to hear from our community. Representatives from all nine schools were present to reflect, celebrate, question and share their experiences in EUSD. It is together as a community that we can truly drive change that will amplify and accelerate learning in our classrooms.
We will be sending surveys out to all families to gather additional input the week of March 13th. We will use the information from all of these opportunities to refine our LCAP plan for this next school year.
Later this spring, we will be launching opportunities for an even broader planning endeavor. The Board of Trustees has prioritized taking a deep look at our existing vision, mission and district goals to start the extensive process of creating a Framework for the Future for EUSD. Our schools and community are primed to re-establish, refine, refresh our core beliefs. Creating a thoughtful, clear and coherent Framework for the Future for the next 5 to 7 years will truly ensure our district continues our relentless pursuit of excellence.
Warmly,
Andrée Grey, Ed.D.
Superintendent
School Spotlight: El Camino Creek Elementary
Each month, a school is spotlighted at our EUSD Board Meeting. Principal Jodi Greenberger alongside 5th grade students will be presenting an update from El Camino Creek Elementary School. Students will be sharing the school's theme this year - GREAT. Great stands for: G - Golden Rule, R - Responsible, E - Empowered, A - Adaptable, T - Together. There are several supports across the school that help with the daily application of the theme. One example of this is The Kindness Committee, which is present at younger kids’ recess to help children make friends and keep the peace at recess time.
EEF Band Concert
We are all thrilled to have music back in our schools in a variety of ways including Afterschool Band and Choir supported by our Encinitas Education Foundation (EEF). They held their first concert since the pandemic and they filled the room with guests, families and friends. EUSD students sounded amazing after just ten weeks of lessons. We also have the good fortune of having student band mentors from the high school. Some are previous EUSD band students! It is wonderful to see music make such a difference in the lives of students.
