Administrative Announcements
From the Principal's Office
Dear Scholars, Parents, and Guardians,
This past week was one of our celebrations. To end the first quarter our Student Government Association (SGA) planned a Spirit Week for students. Each day we saw our scholars creativity and self expression as they participated in themed dress days.
On Thursday, our Parent-Teacher Organization hosted a Fall Festival for students. Students spent the morning outside playing on a blow up obstacle course, basketball, dancing, and more.
To top it off the SGA hosted a costume themed dance Thursday night to round out Spirit Week.
These events are not possible without the support of our CMIT community. Special thanks to our teachers, staff, and parents that volunteered to ensure a positive experience for all.
Now we turn our focus to the 2nd quarter. We will dive deeper into the content and expectations increase. Parents can help by checking Canvas regularly to make sure their scholar is staying on top of their work and reinforcing study skills.
I look forward to another successful quarter ahead.
Educationally Yours,
Principal Andrew Brauer, M. Ed

Math Corner
Emphasizing the M in CMIT!
IXL is the platform that we use in school and recommend for students to use at home. Students take a diagnostic assessment to see where they are in math. They receive a three digit score. The first number indicates the grade level the student is working on and the other two digits indicate how much they have covered thus far. For example, if a student received a diagnostic score of a 650, they are currently on the 6th grade level and about halfway through the 6th grade curriculum.
After the diagnostics, IXL provides students with recommended skills that is specific to the individual. With recommended skills, students can close their math gap, practice current math skills they are learning in class, or advance their understanding in math. Have students make ixl.com apart of their study plan.
*If your scholar could benefit from multiplication or division practice, this is a good website to utilize https://webmathminute.com/.
Native American Heritage Month
For almost one hundred years, Americans, both Indian and non-Indian, have urged that there be a permanently designated place on the calendar to honor the contributions, achievements, sacrifices, and cultural and historical legacy of the original inhabitants of what is now the United States and their descendants: the American Indian and Alaska Native people.
The quest for a national honoring of Native Americans began in the early 20th Century as a private effort. As far back as the late 1970s, Congress has enacted legislation, and subsequent presidents have issued annual proclamations designating a day, a week, or a month to celebrate and commemorate the Nation's American Indian and Alaska Native heritage. In 2009, Congress passed, and the President signed legislation establishing the Friday following Thanksgiving Day of each year as "Native American Heritage Day."
