Dear West Wing Parents and Guardians,
Our Governing Board unanimously approved to seek voter authorization of a continuation of the existing override and funding for Student Safety.
This election will help preserve current fine arts and athletic programs such as art, general and instrumental music, and physical education, as well as maintain class sizes. The funds will also be used to attract and retain highly qualified teachers and support staff.
The total cost of the override for homeowners is a continuation of $21.27 per month property tax on the average assessed home value. Your taxes will NOT increase as a result of passage of this override.
Funding for Student Safety Special Bond Election
Will fund safety, security, instructional resources, technology, building renewal, conservation, buses and student growth through the year 2029. The total cost is $15.12 per month on average assessed home value.
This funding is being structured to NOT INCREASE the projected tax levy.

Athletics Parent Night
Dear West Wing Parents,
Please review the school dress code and ensure that your child is coming to school prepared to learn. We have had issues with the midriff showing and we want to avoid having to send students to the nurse to borrow clothing.
The District encourages students to take pride in their attire as it relates to the school setting. Students should dress in a manner that, in addition to the following guidelines, takes into consideration the educational environment, safety, health, and welfare of self and others. During the school day:
Clothing must cover the entire buttocks and not be see-through. Shirts and tops may not expose bare midriffs, bare shoulders, nor be deeply or narrowly cut in the front, back, or under the arms. Halter tops, spaghetti straps, and strapless tops are not acceptable. Clothing that exposes undergarments will not be tolerated for males or females.
Review the student dress code here.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Hello Families,
The motto this week in school is:
I am always communicating through my body language.
Our body language can reveal a lot about how we think, but it can also affect how we think.
For example, if a student believes a class is boring, they may express their thoughts by sitting with slumped shoulders and putting their head in their hands. Their body language reinforces their thoughts:
• I don’t like math.
• This will be boring.
• All I can do is wait for recess.
While their body language may result from their thoughts, if those thoughts become a habit, their body language will too. When students have a habit of assuming a posture of boredom in class, their body sends messages to their brain that they are bored, even if they aren’t bored yet. Our body language can affect our mood. When students make an effort with their body language by sitting up straight and keeping their heart toward the speaker, they are less likely to disengage in class.
Body language affects not only how the student perceives class but also how the class might perceive the student. When students have attentive body language, everyone believes they participate in class and give their all. This creates a better learning environment for everyone!
“You cannot not communicate!” -Paul Watzlawick
We are constantly communicating, not only with the people around us but with ourselves as well. This week is about helping our students help themselves by understanding how their body language can make their day better or worse.
Have an excellent week,
Danna Evans
