Dear Parents,
In the life of the Church, the effort to educate our children has always been understood as the collaboration of church-school-home, with the primary educators in the faith always being the parents. We’d like to make an attempt to put that into practice a little more tangibly. This year, we will ask you the parents to work alongside your children, with the provided resource, to provide the formal catechism and formation. This will be accompanied by 2-3 gatherings at St. Francis Xavier for communal activities and further integration of the gift of the Sacraments.
We will host a meeting for ALL parents of children preparing for Sacraments this year on January 28th @6:30pm in the parish hall. This will provide an opportunity to share the idea behind this year’s approach, give further details to the itinerary, answer your questions, and some time for reflection and discussion.
The dates for celebration of the Sacraments are as follows:
1st Confession – March 5th @10:30am
1st Communion – April 24th @11:00am mass
Confirmation – June 26th @11:00am mass
Also, I would like to request that each parent sign up for “Flocknote” by texting “Camrose” to 514-900-0130. Flocknote is a texting service and allows us to send you notes and reminders during preparation. Once signed up, include yourself in the group your child belongs (i.e. “Confirmation”). You can stop the texts at any time by texting back “STOP”.
Considering we are still in the pandemic, if gathering publicly (with restrictions) is a cause for concern, please contact me so we can discuss possible alternative arrangements.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at the parish 780-672-1131 or kris.schmidt@caedm.ca.
In Christ,
Fr. Kristopher Schmidt
