Parents Weekly Newsletter
Fall 2023 Volume.1 (Back to school Edition)
Welcome Message from Principal Richard
Welcome to A New School Year
Greetings Parents, Guardians, and Scholars:
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year. I hope that each of you had a wonderful summer break. Please note the information below as we prepare to start another school year. During the school year, we will send out a newsletter to keep you informed about various things that are going on at our school. There will also be other forms of communication, such as REMIND, CANVAS, etc. Additionally, as we reflect on last year and celebrate the great accomplishments of Clements Middle School, from participating and placing in the Reading Bowl, Spelling Bee, Math, Social Studies, and Science competitions, and coming in 1st place at our District Drama competition and placing in the Drama competitions in Regionals, we can clearly say our school is on a path toward academic greatness. As educators, and with your vital support, we plan to continue this journey with you and our scholars this year.
We will challenge each scholar to grow in their academic abilities as they build their learning capacity. Instructionally, our teachers utilize research-based best practices, analyze academic data to determine the current skill levels of scholars, and set goals for growth and improvement for our scholars. Our scholars should expect to be challenged daily and engaged in a rigorous curriculum with high academic standards for all scholars while having a fun middle school experience.
Keeping in mind, as our scholars and teachers immerse themselves into the curriculum, our Theme for this year is Crossing Boarders-Engaging our Scholars in Global Problem Solving. As we ignite a passion for learning and teaching at high levels, we want all scholars to be well-rounded and prepared for the future while learning how to navigate our society and our world and compete locally and globally.
Below are our beliefs regarding teaching and learning that we developed as part of this process.
We believe that effective teaching:
Create opportunities for intellectual risk-taking, collaboration, problem-solving, and application of classroom learning to real-life situations.
Implement strategies that promote ownership of learning to students.
Design instruction to integrate various innovative technological tools and resources to enhance learning.
Demonstrate ongoing professional growth to increase the quality of instruction.
Collaborate with colleagues to share and discuss exemplary practices, interpret student performance data, and design assessments that promote twenty-first-century skills.
We believe that successful scholars:
Communicate in a meaningful way for a variety of purposes and audiences.
Employ critical and creative thinking skills to solve problems; and
Pose questions, examine possibilities, and apply skills to solve authentic issues.
Make positive choices related to physical and mental wellness; and
Contribute to the local and global community in a collaborative and respectful manner.
If Clements Middle School faculty and staff can assist, please do not hesitate to contact us at 770-784-2934. Again, Welcome Back to a New School!
Sincerely,
Mr. Fredrick Richard, Ed.S.
Super Proud Principal
