A Message from Curtis Principal, Sonya Pitcock
College and Career was fun getting to explore Naviance for colleges and discussing lifestyles and how income might influence those! The kids were shocked at the cost of daycare! We encourage you to continue conversations at home with your kids about their interests, their passions, how they want to contribute to our world, where they want to focus, etc. There are jobs that don’t even exist that your kids might have one day! We talk with them about being problem solvers and good communicators and how to be able to adapt to our quickly changing work force.
We have our one-day simulation test tomorrow, January 28, for all students. 8th grade will take the reading test and 7th grade the writing test. We ask that no visitors come on Tuesday and that no lunches are dropped off as students’ lunch schedules will be altered.
We are looking forward to Love Week the week of February 10 to show support for the Kirby family and EXPOW. Students will be able to donate $1 on Tuesday the 11th to wear pajama bottoms and donate $1 on Wednesday the 12th to wear a hat. We are encouraging students to wear red on Thursday, February 13th to show support. Students can also donate any time during the week any amount they choose. We will have a collection box in the main office. Our goal is $1 for each CMS student, which would allow us to donate over $1,000. Thanks for your support of Love Week!
Course registration parent meetings are as follows:
- Feb 4 – incoming 7th graders – 6:00 CMS café
- Feb 5 – incoming 8th graders – 6:00 CMS café
- Feb 6 – Advanced Academics – all students – 6:30 – Service Center
- Feb 10 – Coffee with the Counselors – 8:30 - CMS front office
We have finished the first three weeks of the new semester and we will continue to support students through their academic and personal needs this semester. Please reach out to our teachers with questions or concerns or to our counselors and administrators for help if you need it. We want to partner with you to make sure our students are successful.
Thank you for your support!
Sonya Pitcock, Principal

Our campus goal is 100 registrants. The 7th and 8th grade homerooms with the highest percent of registrants will receive:
- A front-of-the-line lunch pass for each student in the homeroom.
- A restaurant gift card for the teacher of that class.
Every student who registers will be entered into a raffle for movie tickets.
Details about registration, fees and deadlines or information about becoming a sponsor are available here. Price is $25 per runner when you register by February 7.
