My name is Kimberly McPhearson and I am in my first year of achieving my masters degree in Integrated Studies with a focus on business and marketing. I am originally from Maryland and spent time studying in New York. I come from a family of 7 older brothers, me being the youngest and only girl, and my beautiful parents Kim and Gerrick. Having a big family has shown me that everyone has their own path to success, and no story is the same.
I chose JSU because it felt like the place I needed to be. After COVID, I was so lost in what my purpose was and where God was leading me next in my journey. In 2021, I decided to come to JSU to continue my career on the Women’s Soccer team. As time has gone by many doors have opened for me such as being an ambassador for Morgan’s Message, advocating for student- athlete mental health awareness on campus, becoming President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and lastly receiving the opportunity of becoming a Graduate Assistant for the College of Education Professional Studies. I have met and made many great connections here at JSU.
As I drawer nearer to my future, it has always been a dream of mine to start an esthetician business and expand my knowledge to possibly seek a career in real estate. I want to give back, I want to use my story to inspire others, I want the future generation to thrive to reach their full potential. As I remind myself every day, nothing in life worth having comes easy. I can’t wait to see what is next in my future.
